Mother Goose on the Loose is a fast paced, interactive program for very young children ages 0 - 2 with an adult helper. Babies, toddlers and their caregivers will experience lots of fun and enhance their memory skills through repetitive Mother Goose rhymes, small and large motor activities, singing, playing the bells, and social interaction. Registration is not required for this program. Please pick up a name tag for your child at the Children's Desk before entering the program.

Objectives of Children Across America's book clubs are for participant’s level of enjoyment from reading literature to increase, provide a service to assure children are reading over the summer, and for children to engage in a new genre or series.

Philosophical approach of the children’s book clubs is to create a no pressure relaxed atmosphere including a high level of respect, support, and encouragement to be highly involved in the reading, discussion and activities related to the literature that is covered.

All book clubs have a ratio of 6 participants to 1 leader

Most leaders are high school students, some are college students are career adults. 

Book Clubs can run for 6 sessions (6S) or be one day (1D).

To participate in a 6S club, child needs to register prior to the first session and should be able to attend for the following 5 sessions. If child can attend only 4 that is ok but the child will need to read at home to keep up with the development of the story and be able to participate in the discussion.

To participate in the 1D clubs, child needs to register per session that the child plans to attend. If there are still openings on the day of, walk-ins are welcomed. If club ends up with 7 participants we will make it work.

Before Lunch Book clubs. Occur 10:30-11:30

After Lunch Book Clubs. Occur Noon til 1:00

From 11:30 til noon is lunch time in which all participants are encouraged to attend with their own food and beverage. This can be held in a different location than the book clubs.

Learning how to use a telescope can be lots of fun!  Join us for a telescope demonstration and instruction by John Root on how to use the newest addition to our collection. The donation of an Orion Starblast telescope from Sue-Ellen and Robert Szymanski of Milford will be available through the Youth Services Department beginning in August 2014. This program is for families with children of all ages. We will also be visiting the Milford Town Park to learn how to use the telescope to view the stars and planets. Families may register in person or by phone (508) 473-2145, extension 216.

Hello ,  The massachusetts Rehabilitaton Commission is forming a sub-committteee of the agencys  Diveristy Committee  to include the LGBTQ community   . 

The mission of the LGBTQ Sub-Committee is to work as a team with representation from all three divisions (CL, VR & DDS) of the MRC  to provide resources, education, advocacy and community supports to enhance understanding of issues that impact LGBTQ staff in our workplace and/or the consumers we serve.  The sub-committee may also recommend trainings depending on the needs of staff and the services they provide to LGBTQ consumers.

The Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) promotes equality, empowerment and independence of individuals with disabilities. These goals are achieved through enhancing and encouraging personal choice and the right to succeed or fail in the pursuit of independence and employment in the community.

The MRC provides comprehensive services to people with disabilities that maximize their quality of life and economic self-sufficiency in the community.

Adults are welcome to attend these free, informal ESL classes  to understand and speak English better. Beginners and intermediate students may attend 1, 2 or 3 evenings as their schedule allows. Volunteer instructors, trained by the library, lead the classes in a variety of exercises, handouts, and games  to build confidence, introduce new vocabulary, and gain fluency speaking. No pre-registration is necessary, and students should bring a notebook and a dictionary to each class. No childcare is provided.
