misc_none Wotiz Gallery Exhibit for August: Painter Abraham Salzman     Tell a Friend
    Contact: Jean Hlady   (617) 698-5757

During the month of August, artist Abraham Salzman will display his colorful paintings in the Wotiz Gallery.  Mr. Salzman was born in Cuba from Russian parents.  He has evolved his own brand of artwork into something he calls "Imaginary Expressionism."  He uses poster paints, pastels, magic markers, crayons and other media tools to create colorful images with messages that have positive known thoughts to them.  They are incorporated with a surrealistic and dreamlike quality.  His Latin background is apparent in his use of strong colors.  A totem pole of faces often appears in his work, created within a structure of color, shapes and texture.  Abraham has had his artwork exhibited in galleries in New York and Massachusetts. His paintings are also in many private collections.  He lives in Milton at Winter Valley and is often seen visiting here in the library.  Please come and enjoy this fun display!

The fabulous Scottish folk group,  North Sea Gas,  will give a free one-hour concert this evening at 7 PM.   North Sea Gas are Dave Gilifillan, Ronnie McDonald and Grant Simpson.  They've been going for over 30 years and are stronger than ever!  One of Scotland's most popular bands, this fun trio entertains with guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bouzouki, bodran, whistles, banjo, and great vocals, featuring tremendous three-part harmonies.  Over the years North Sea Gas has released 18 albums and are constantly adding new material to their show.  Their latest album, "The Fire and Passion of Scotland," was released in July 2013.  Celtic Radio (USA) named their CD their "Album of the Year" and they also won first place in the Jigs and Reels category with a piece from the same CD.  Their albums and performances consistently receive wonderful reviews from folk magazines, newspapers, etc. including Dirty Linen, The Scots Magazine, and The Living Tradition.  Their show consists of traditional, contemporary, and self-penned material, all put together with a style of their own. With Gold and Silver disc awards from the Scottish Music Industry Association, they always sell out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  Please join us for their only stop at the Milton Public Library during their Fall tour in the US.   This program is sponsored by The Friends of the Milton Public Library, light refreshments will be served, and it is suitable for all ages.
