Come to our three summer trivia nights to test your knowlededge of minutiae, or just to have fun.  Compete as an individual or join up with others to form an unbeatable team!  Each trivia night will consist of four rounds of questions, with a break for refreshments and social mixing, halfway through.  Prizes will be awarded for each round and for the top scorer for the entire evening.  Rounds 1 through 4 are the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's, respectively.

Trivia Night #2 will be held on Wednesday, July 5th, and will feature Sci Fi, Fantasy, Horror, and Super Hero trivia.

Trivia Night #3 will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd and will feature "Back to the '80's" trivia.

Encourage continued and early literacy over the summer months by signing your child up for one of our summer reading clubs!  We have clubs for all ages from birth through 12th grade!  Pick up an official reading log and start reading to your child or have your child read on their own!  The more books read, the more prizes can be earned (while our supplies last)!  

In person only sign up begins Friday, June 23 and continues until Saturday, August 12 (the final day to hand in a reading log for a prize).  Sign up for the Summer Reading Club is continuous throughout the summer.  

Bitty Builders Summer Reading Club: A reading club for babies ages birth through 2 years.  

Build a Better World @ Your Library Summer Reading Club:  A reading club for children, tweens, and teens ages 2.5 years through entering 12th grade.

The Mineola Library will be teaming up with the Long Island Dog Parents Facebook group to "build a better world" for homeless animals through a pet supplies drive.  Items collected will benefit local animal shelters or rescues.  We will be collecting items for cats and dogs.  Food items must not be open and cannot be expired.  Some suggested items include: cat or dog food, cat or dog treats, large trash bags, cleaning supplies, cat litter, paper towels, toys, etc.  The collection box will be located in front of the Circulation Desk.

Come meet, and paint with, Dagger, aka "The DogVinci," the painting black Labrador Retriever.  Children will learn about Dagger's life as a canine artist and then will pain their own masterpiece, a la "Dagger-style!" Dagger has been featured in Newsday, on the Today Show, and on the Rachael Ray Show.  Please bring a smock or old clothes to this event.

Volunteer teens read a story to children (Little Chefs) and make an edible food craft with them each week.  Volunteers MUST be able to commit to at least 2 SESSIONS to receive community credit.  They must be on time at 3PM to set up materials for each craft and stay to clean up afterward.  

First-time CookBook Buddies must attend a mandatory training session held on Tuesday, June 20 at 4PM or Thursday, June 29 at 7PM.  

Past participants in the Book Buddies program do not have to attend training, but may pick up craft directions at the Children's Desk.  

THERE MAY BE FOOD ALLERGENS IN THIS PROGRAM.
