The Mineola Library will be a drop off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” campaign, a program to collect toys and distribute to needy children in the community during the holiday season. From November 2 – December 19, you may drop off a new and unwrapped toy in a “Toys for Tots” box located at the Circulation Desk or in the Children’s Room.

Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation

Mineola is proud to host Forever Free, a traveling exhibition based on original documents about Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, abolition, and the Emancipation Proclamation from the Huntington Library and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Forever Free can be viewed at the Mineola Library during regular library hours, starting on Saturday, November 14, 2009 through Friday, January 8, 2010. Visitors can tour the exhibit on their own or join a guided docent tour/talk every Tuesday at 1 PM begining on Tuesday, November 17,2009 and running through Tuesday, January 5, 2010.
