Dr. Samuel A. Bernstein practiced general dentistry beginning in the '40s.  He was president of the Mercer County Dental Association in Trenton during the '50s and was an active member in the community.

Over the years he developed a hobby with the use of a solder gun, scraps of metal and dental instruments.  From these materials, he created sculptures, many with moving parts.  His sense of humor and love of music are evident in so many of these figures.

The exhibit also presents the story of wealthy German-Jewish financiers and industrialists who spent their summers in elegant mansions on the Jersey Shore during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  It continues with information about the important philanthropic work of such people as Nathan Straus, the Wimpfheimer and Eisner families, and others.

Grieving is a process of learning how to live in a changed world. When someone we love has died, or a relationship has ended, we are challenged to relearn how to be with ourselves, our families and our friends. We are faced with coping and managing painful feelings, and creating new systems of meaning that allow us to live with joy and purpose in spite of our losses.  Meeting with other bereaved individuals who are coping with similar life circumstances helps to reduce isolation and increase hopefulness.

VNAHG Bereavement Support Group meets the SECOND and FOURTH Monday of each month, February through April, 2017 from 11:00 to 12:00 PM.  If you have any questions, please call Janet Freed at 845-642-0935, Chaplain and Bereavement Counselor, VNA Hospice.
