Marie Maber: Selected Paintings, Pottery and Sculpture 2005-2019; Art throughout the Years from a Child of the Sixties

Several pieces in this show have been made using mixed media.  Although some of the artworks are painted traditionally in either oil or acrylic paints, some of the more recent pieces have been made using Mixed Media.  These techniques include spray painting, block printing, stencil printing, relief printing, dimensional paint, polymer clay, and collage.

Three-dimensional works in the show were made using traditional ceramic technology.  The 3D work will be on display in the library lobby exhibit cases, across from the Circulation Desk.

An Art Reception and Technical Talk will take place on Sunday, June 9th.  The reception begins at 2:00 pm.  The Technical Talk will begin at 3:30 pm, and will include explanations of the various media used in the creation of this exhibition.

Marie Maber has been involved with the visual arts her entire life.  She's a painter, sculptor, and writer, with over 100 of her art-related articles in print in newspapers and magazines. Ms. Maber is a Professor of the Fine Arts at Brookdale Community College, in Lincroft, NJ, where she has been since 1993.

Marie's 6-year BFA degree was awarded by the University of Pennsylvania in conjunction with the 4-year Certificate Program completion at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. She earned her Masters' degree from Temple University in Art History. Her work has been shown at the Monmouth Museum, The Art Alliance of Monmouth County, and Brookdale Community College. In 2017, she won the Jane Townsend award and has a Cresson Award Honorable Mention from PAFA.

The Overstory by Richard Powers

An Air Force loadmaster in the Vietnam War is shot out of the sky, then saved by falling into a banyan. An artist inherits a hundred years of photographic portraits, all of the same doomed American chestnut. These and other strangers, each summoned in different ways by trees, are brought together in a last stand to save the continent’s few remaining acres of forest.
