lib_book_signing 6:30 PM Author Event: Madeline Blais Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Hope Bodwell   413-267-3866   hbodwell@cwmars.org

Join us for an author event and book signing as we welcome bestselling journalist and memoirist Madeline Blais, author of To the New Owners, the story of a family home on Martha’s Vineyard.

To the New Owners is Madeleine Blais’s charming, evocative memoir of this house, and of the Vineyard itself—from the history of the island and its famous visitors to the ferry, the pie shops, the quirky charms and customs, and the abundant natural beauty. But more than that, this is an elegy for a special place. Many of us have one place that anchors our most powerful memories. For Blais, it was the Vineyard house—a retreat and a dependable pleasure that also measured changes in her family. As children were born and grew up, as loved ones aged and passed away, the house was a constant. And now, the house lives on in the hearts of those who cherished it.

Come for an evening with two best-selling science fiction & fantasy authors!

Elizabeth Bear shares a birthday with Frodo and Bilbo Baggins. This, coupled with a tendency to read the dictionary as a child, doomed her early to penury, intransigence, friendlessness, and the writing of speculative fiction. Bear was the recipient of the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2005. She has won two Hugo Awards for her short fiction, a Sturgeon Award, and the Locus Award for Best First Novel. She is the author of the acclaimed Eternal Sky series, the Edda of Burdens series, coauthor (with Sarah Monette) of the Iskryne series, and more!

Scott Lynch is an author, self-proclaimed geek-of-all trades, volunteer firefighter, and new resident of Western Mass.  He appeared on the literary scene with his first novel, The Lies of Locke Lamora, in 2004.  Nominated for numerous awards, Scott Lynch won the 2008 Sydney J. Bounds Best Newcomer Award, and his second novel, Red Seas under Red Skies won the 2008 Prix Imaginales “Foreign Novel.”
