Rosalie Lightning by Tom Hart

This month the Library Comic Book Comic will read and discuss Rosalie Lightning by Tom Hart. A touching and beautiful graphic memoir about the untimely death of his young daughter, Rosalie, Hart's heart-emotional illustrations strike readers to the core and take them along his family's journey through grief, hopelessness, rebirth, and eventually finding hope again. Hart creatively portrays the solace he discovers in nature, philosophy, great works of literature, and art across all mediums in this expressively honest and loving tribute to his baby girl.

Copies of this month's title will be available at the main desk. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact Dave Bartos at 508-647-6521.

Invisible BridgeThe Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer
In this WWII saga, Julie Orringer illuminates the life of Andras Lévi, a Hungarian Jew of meager means whose world is upended by a scholarship to the
École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris. There, he makes an unlikely liaison with ballet teacher Claire Morgenstern, a woman nine years his senior whose past links her to a wealthy Hungarian family familiar to Andras. Against the backdrop of grueling school assignments, exhausting work at a theater, budding romance, and the developing kinship between Andras and his fellow Jewish students, Orringer ingeniously depicts the insidious reach of the growing tide of anti-Semitism that
eventually lands him back in Hungary.

The Morning book discussion meets monthly September through June on the third Wednesday of the month at 11 AM.
Selections for this year will be historical fiction and nonfiction presidential themed books.

The group is drop in and books are available one month in advanced at the circulation desk on the first floor of the library.

Light refreshments and tea served.

The Customer is Always Wrong by Mimi Pond

This month the Library Comic Book Club will read and discuss The Customer is Always Wrong by Mimi Pond. Oakland in the late seventies is a cheap and quirky haven for eccentrics and Mimi Pond folds the tales of the fascinating sleaze-ball characters that surround young Madge into her workaday waitressing life. Outrageous and loving tributes and takedowns of her co-workers and satellites of the Imperial Cafe create a snapshot of a time in Madge’s life where she encounters who she is, and who she is not.

Comic Book Group meets on the second Thursday of each month. Copies of this month's title will be available at the main desk. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact Dave Bartos at 508-647-6521.
