We will view and discuss a highly-acclaimed foreign film. Many of them will be first-run features. These films will come from across the globe, and cover a host of genres; the only commnality: they'll all be outstanding features. From time to time, I'll throw in an old favorite. Please call me if you have any suggestions. Note: Since we will be meeting after the library proper is closed, doors will open at 6:45 p.m., and close at 7:05 p.m.

Title: LIFE, INC.: HOW THE WORLD BECAME A CORPORATION, AND HOW TO TAKE IT BACK by Douglas Rushkoff. Our lives are overextended, and there is no time, energy, or commitment to do anything but work and perhaps consider family. Ruskoff recommends that we fight back by "de-corporatizing" ourselves. His suggestions include thinking locally by participating directly with our neighbors in community activities and using various Internet sites that provide opportunities to contribute directly to a particular school or to extend a "micro loan" to a specific enterpreneur in the Third World. This is an excellent, thought-provoking book.
