The Wife in this historical novel, is Hadley Richardson Hemingway, brought out from the shadow of her famous husband, and his equally famous friends, Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, F. Scott Fitzgerald.  Booklist called this "a beautifully crafted tale".

cover imagePopular Author Nancy Thayer and her daughter Author Samantha Wilde come to the library June 22nd for a 2 pm duo discussion of their latest books. This mother-daughter event is free and open to the public in our Program Room on the lower level.
 
Nancy will discuss her newest book, ( it debuts June 18th) Island Girls. She has been called the “queen of beach books” and has penned 19 novels to date. She holds a M.A. in English literature from the University Of Missouri . Thayer and her husband have lived on Nantucket Island for the past 25 years. They have two children and two grandchildren. Samantha will discuss her book I’ll Take What She Has. She attended Concord Academy, Smith College and Yale Divinity School where she took a Masters degree in Religion. She later attended the New Seminary and is an ordained interfaith minister. When not writing Samantha teaches yoga. She and her husband have two children and live in Hadley, Mass.

    Dig Into Ancient Egypt!  Make a cartouche pendant of your name.  An Egyptian "cartouche" is an oblong or oval symbol, which was drawn to contain the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics that spelled out the name of a King or Queen.  These can be found on Egyptian monuments.  This is a Tween activitiy for kids ages 9 - 12.  No registration is required.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.  Visit the Tween Summer Reading webpage for information about all the Tween activities this summer.
