Why is food important? is a free class for adult ESL learners at all levels who have a basic knowledge of reading, writing and understanding English. Since we all have to eat, let's learn why food is so much more than just a source of energy. Cultural traditions, motivation, and respect for differences will all be explored as we discuss how to make planning, shopping, preparing, serving and eating meals a source of improved health, learning, pride, social connection and pleasure.

Speaking English on Newton's Walking Trails and Historic Spots is a free class for intermediate to advanced adult ESL learners.

Practice English and enjoy springtime in this active class that takes you to the hidden walking paths and fascinating cultural sites of Newton. For each tour, we will meet in the classroom to learn about the significance of the place. While walking, we will have both structured language activities and conversation. This is a great way to speak English outside the classroom while discovering places such as Hemlock Gorge, Bullough's Pond, Crystal Lake, Nonantum village and the estate of Mt. Ida.

American Art at the MFA is a free class for intermediate to advanced adult ESL learners. Discuss and learn about American Art from the collection at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. 

Week one - Art of Ancient Americas - Mexico and Central America
Week two - Art of Colonial America
Week three - Art of a New Country - 1800's
Week four - Art of the 1900's
Week five - American Impressionism & The Boston School

Week six - private tour of the American Wing highlights at the MFA.
Admission is free but there is a charge for parking.  Directions will be provided.

Course open only to students who did not take this class in spring 2013.

Practice English and enjoy springtime in this active class that takes you to the hidden walking paths and fascinating cultural sites of Newton. For each tour, we will meet in the classroom to learn about the significance of the place. While walking, we will have both structured language activities and conversation. This is a great way to speak English outside the classroom while discovering places such as Hemlock Gorge, Bullough's Pond, Crystal Lake, Nonantum village and the estate of Mt. Ida.

Practice English and enjoy springtime in this active class that takes you to the hidden walking paths and fascinating cultural sites of Newton. For each tour, we will meet in the classroom to learn about the significance of the place. While walking, we will have both structured language activities and conversation. This is a great way to speak English outside the classroom while discovering places such as Hemlock Gorge, Bullough's Pond, Crystal Lake, Nonantum village and the estate of Mt. Ida.
