Wood Fired Flatbreads fires up the oven for hot, crispy, made-to-order pizzas, such as the repeat favorite Margherita and Classic Formaggi - a delicious cheese pizza using Stanislaus Pizzaiolo sauce and a smothering of proprietary four cheese blend of mozzarella, provolone, asiago and cheddar. Amazing on its own or add some of our toppings to kick it up a notch.

Sinkers and Suds, diner lingo for coffee and donuts, will make their first appearance at TT@N. The sinkers (donuts) include flavors like s’mores, razzle dazzle and sweet piggy! Warm and wonderful, you’ll come back for more!

Wood Fired Flatbreads and Sinkers and Suds accept cash and all major credits cards, and will be open until 6pm or as supplies last given the variability of patron support and limited storage capacity of food trucks. For up-to-the-minute information, please call the library at 412-366-8100 or check our Facebook and Twitter pages. The event benefits Northland Public Library Foundation, which provides financial support to the library through community fundraising.

Mark your calendars for TT@N every first and third Thursday and enjoy delicious foods while helping your library! Coming in two weeks: Southside BBQ Company and Sugar & Spice (ice cream).

Making Friends with my Norwegian Ancestors
Presented by Kimberly Latta, PhD.

Latta is an English literature scholar who knew practically nothing about the history of Norway or its emigrants. So it was with great daring that she took on the task of telling the story of her Norwegian ancestors, who settled in North America during the 19th century. She is grateful to her youthful self for pestering her grandmother with questions. Now she has settled down to write up what she has been learning. She will present some of the documents she has collected and read a snippet of the saga.

Bulgaria/Romania (50 min)

Sofia – In Bulgaria’s capital there are ancient Roman ruins, mineral springs and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, one of the largest in Europe.

Rila Monatersy – Founded in 927. Bulgaria’s national treasure.

Plovdiv -  Bulgaria’s most enjoyable city with its delightful 19th century buildings and Roman amphitheater.

Bucharest -  Romania’s capital is a showcase of Belle Epoque style houses as well as North Korean architecture.

Peles Caslte – We’ll tour Romania’s first president’s summer castle.

Bran Castle – known as “Dracula’s Castle”.  It has little to do with the original Dracula.

Transylvania -- Instead of fortified castles, Romania built fortified churches.

Maramures -  a region that wears strange hats, has ornate gateways and “merry” cemeteries.  It also has some wonderful wooden churches.

We’ll also learn all about the Roma or Gypsies.

So come join us. No registration is required.  Refreshments will be served.

Southside BBQ Company rolls up to the curb with pulled pork that melts in your mouth. They will share the space with new TT@N friend Sugar and Spice with ice cream that makes us happy to be alive! From sundaes to cones and everything in between,

Sugar and Spice will bring far more than the usual chocolate and vanilla flavors to our door. Flavors change daily and have included notables such as scooter crunch, mint chip and Dutch apple.

Southside BBQ Company and Sugar & Spice accept cash and all major credits cards, and will be open until 6pm or as supplies last given the variability of patron support and limited storage capacity of food trucks. For up-to-the-minute information, please call the library at 412-366-8100 or check our Facebook and Twitter pages. The event benefits Northland Public Library Foundation, which provides financial support to the library through community fundraising.

But when his wife and son fell victim to the danger that accompanied him everywhere, Gabriel quit and devoted himself to the work of art restoration. Now Ari Shamron, the head of Israeli intelligence, needs Gabriel's particular kind of experience to thwart a Palestinian plot to destroy the peace negotiations in the Middle East. NIGHTINGALE -(A Drama from China) (118 min)

Ren Xing is a spoiled ten year old who has everything.  Her parents are never together at any one time due to business. However both will be away for an extended time and must find a babysitter for Ren Xing.  As a last resort, Ren’s mother asks her husband’s father for help.  Her husband hasn’t spoken to his father in many years due to an incident in his childhood. The grandfather is not up to date with the world, and doesn’t want to, so the two do not understand one another.  However, the grandfather has to visit the grave of his late wife before his beloved nightingale dies, as the nightingale is eighteen years old .  The nightingale is the last remnant of the time he spent with his wife.  His wife had never heard the nightingale sing.  To get to her grave site is a long trek. Will the two bond while on the trek?  The movie is beautifully shot in the idyllic Chinese countryside.  No reservation is required.  Join us. Refreshments will be served.

Indian Cooking Class: Tomato Rasam

Our favorite Indian cook, Ann Manchella, will demonstrate the preparation of another tasty vegetarian food from India: Tomato Rasam. Rasam is a spicy soup made in South India using lentils, pepper, tomato and other spices. It is very nutritious and very good for digestion. It is eaten along with rice or drunk after a meal. It is usually difficult to find a healthy dish that is also appetizing, but rasam is one of those dishes!

Watch her preparation and taste a generous sample. Copies of the recipe will be available for you to take home to try it for yourself.

HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE- (A Comedy from New Zealand) (101 min)

This wacky, outrageously funny adventure is set in New Zealand's wilderness It is filled with quirky, compelling characters and witty dialog. Ricky, a thirteen year old, is a defiant hip-hop foster kid being given a last chance to be “adopted” or else go to juvenile prison.  Bella, his new “aunt” is a lovable wack- a - doodle, while Hector is his new cantankerous “uncle”.   When something happens to Bella, it is Hector who must take over.  In a misunderstanding Ricky, runs away, Hector tries to find him.  This starts a national manhunt for which the police get involved, as well as the worlds most dedicated social worker, believing Hector has kidnapped Ricky. Will Hector and Ricky bond ?. The joy is in watching them try.  The acting is superb, especially by Bella.  The wilderness and brush scenery is beautiful.  The movie will keep you in stitches.  No reservation required.  Join us.  Refreshments will be served.

Nonverbal Communication: “The Hidden Message” *

In face-to-face communication, body language accounts for more than two thirds of the impact of your message. It is always more emotionally revealing and always more emotionally accurate than what we say. In this session, we will learn ways to enhance body language as well as how to understand the hidden messages sent by others. We will examine first impressions, consider how rapport is established, and look at projecting personal power. Learn how your appearance, posture, gesture, facial expression, eye contact, voice, touch and even smell impact your face-to-face communication. Special attention is given to gender differences and how they may account for misunderstanding.

About the presenter: Bill Acheson is an expert in nonverbal communication. As a faculty member of the Department of Communication at the University of Pittsburgh for over 20 years and as a professional speaker since 1994, Bill has spoken to thousands of people across the United States about how to use body language to communicate more effectively.

A reading and discussion. Are you interested in the various mysteries of the mind, the fields of alternative and holistic healing, theories about the connections of mind/body/spirit and your health or intriguing archeological findings that don’t fit existing historical research? If you are enticed by such areas of inquiry and are interested in “alternative” ways, rather than conventional ways, of looking at the world, you may be interested in joining our newest book discussion group. The facilitator will be Richard Kajuth, former educational consultant and lifelong student of esoteric inquiry and Eastern philosophy. No registration is required.
