misc_rivers 10:30 AM Norton’s Rivers: Hidden Beauty, Hidden Treasures     Tell a Friend

Most of the rivers flowing through Norton are hidden from the casual observer. This talk will feature beautiful views of Norton’s major rivers. The Rumford and Wading Rivers join forming the Three Mile River in a picturesque place few people ever see. The Canoe River meanders through town supplying several beautiful venues and abundant wildlife. Through slides and videos you will see some of the most picturesque parts of Norton and learn about the plants and animals that live near or in the rivers. The Land Preservation Society (LPS) of Norton protects many of these areas and maintains trails that are open to the public. LPS provides maps and guides that will open these places up to you and your families for many fun and educational outdoor activities.

Kathleen Ebert-Zawasky, Ed.D. is the President of the Land Preservation Society of Norton, and all-volunteer land trust in Norton that has been actively preserving land for Norton's present and future residents and wildlife since 1970. With nearly 1,000 acres of land preserved, LPS is helping to ensure the quality of air and water resources for southeastern Massachusetts.
