The African American Museum & Library at Oakland (AAMLO), in partnership with the Global Fund, is pleased to announce the Access to Life Exhibit. Featuring photographs by eight artists from Magnum Photos, Access to Life documents the international fight against AIDS while helping to strengthen global networks of compassion and solicitude. Compelling work by Jonas Bendiksen, Jim Goldberg, Alex Majoli, Steve McCurry, Paolo Pellegrin, Gilles Peress, Eli Reed, and Larry Towell offers revealing portraits of individuals and their loved ones from nine countries, lamenting their plight while also celebrating the many positive stories brought about by advanced medicine.
Through its fundraising efforts, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has helped make lifesaving treatment with antiretroviral drugs available to more than 2.3 million people worldwide.
Magnum Photos is an international photographic cooperative, founded by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson and others, that is renowned for chronicling and interpreting world events with respect and empathy for its subjects.
