Kids ages preschool through 5th/6th grade may participate in the Children’s Summer Reading Program (SRP). Students read books of their own choosing and report on the books to a librarian in order to earn weekly prizes. Children’s library card fines for overdue books may be waived after reading five books during the program. (Please note- charges for lost or damaged items and UMS fees will not be waived.) The last day to report on books this year will be August 12.

Participants are also welcome to attend special SRP events in July and August. See seperate listings on the Events Calendar for program details.

Unmask!, our 2015 Teen Summer Reading Program (SRP), begins on June 24 and continues until August 12. Teens in grades 7-12 can sign up using a library card and earn badges for every book read. We also offer fine amnesty for overdue materials (this does not include lost or damaged items). Accounts can be accessed from any county library or remotely from home. Sylvia Steen is a self taught artist interested in painting images of early modern women using facial expression and body language as a means of communication in a patriarchic society.

All of her images contain elements of psychological tension in various forms intended to convey the subject’s demeanor.

Steen has exhibited her paintings widely in central NY and in various juried competitions and publications, most recently Syracuse University’s Stone Canoe and Nine Mile online magazine.

Free summer meals for youth,ages 18 and under, from July 6 through August 14 (Monday – Friday).  The program is funded by the USDA Child Nutrition Summer Food Service Program and is administered through the food service department at the Syracuse City School District.  Nutritious, cold meals that include sandwiches, fruit, veggies and low fat milk will be brought to three of the city libraries with the District Mobile Nutrition Unit.   

Stops include Beauchamp Branch at 2111 S. Salina St. from 11:40 a.m.-12 noon and Hazard Branch at 1620 W. Genesee St. from 1:00 p.m.-1:20 p.m.

The mobile unit will stop at Mundy Library from 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m.

Rain or shine! Don’t be late – the food mobile can’t wait!

Free summer meals for youth,ages 18 and under, from July 6 through August 14 (Monday – Friday).  The program is funded by the USDA Child Nutrition Summer Food Service Program and is administered through the food service department at the Syracuse City School District.  Nutritious, cold meals that include sandwiches, fruit, veggies and low fat milk will be brought to three of the city libraries with the District Mobile Nutrition Unit.   

Stops include Beauchamp Branch at 2111 S. Salina St. from 11:40 a.m.-12 noon and Hazard Branch at 1620 W. Genesee St. from 1:00 p.m.-1:20 p.m.

The mobile unit will stop at Mundy Library from 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m.

Rain or shine! Don’t be late – the food mobile can’t wait!

The Syracuse City School District (SCSD) food mobile unit, in cooperation with OCPL, will be offering free summer meals to youth ages 18 and under.  Nutritious, cold meals that include sandwiches, fruit, veggies and low fat milk will be available.  The food mobile unit will also stop at Beauchamp Branch from 11:40 to 12 noon, and at Mundy Branch from 12:20 p.m. to 12:40 p.m.  Rain or shine!  Don’t be late – the food mobile unit can’t wait!

Cardboard Challenge
Beauchamp Branch Library is participating in a  Cardboard Challenge in which children use their imaginations, cardboard and other various materials to build their creations . The library supplies everything you need to have fun creating!  A “Day of Play” will be held on Saturday, August 22nd  at 2:00 p.m. for the community to enjoy the finished creations.
