    Contact: Dawn Higginson   (203) 888-6944   oxlib@yahoo.com

Join us to learn about strategies that can help you get closer to a tax free retirement.

 ·         If taxes increase in the future, will my chances of outliving my money be reduced?

  • Discover how you can safely build a tax favored position in retirement using methods that have been around for over 150 years.
  • How to prevent my taxable IRA from growing and why.
  • Should I take required minimum distributions early or later?
  • Am I paying too much in taxes now, is there a way to reduce them?
  • What is “The Tax Bridge” and when do I cross it?
  • What tax free vehicles exist and are they appropriate for me?
  • The tax bucket strategy, how diversified am I really?
  • Are Roth IRA conversions right for me, how does this affect my taxes today?
  • What is a 72T distribution and is it right for me?
  • By losing my deductions in retirement how does that change my tax picture?
  • How will retirement accounts impact my heirs?

Many Americans assume that their taxes in retirement will stay the same or go down, unfortunately for most this may not be the case. Historical federal tax rates have been as high as 91% in the 50’s, 70% in the 70’s and 50% in the 80’s. Upon retirement social security may be taxable as high as 85% to the recipient and required minimum distributions from retirement accounts also can create substantial taxable income. Include pensions, rental property income, capital gains, dividend and interest income and you can see the picture is somewhat unclear on future taxes.

Please join host Mike Alimo to learn about strategies that can help you get closer to a tax free retirement.

ent_note 2:00 PM  -  3:00 PM Survivor's Swing Band Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact: Dawn Higginson   (203) 888-6944   oxlib@yahoo.com

The Survivors Swing Band generates energy and excitement everywhere they perform. We are a 7-piece professional jazz band, based in Connecticut, that plays the classic melodies from an era gone by--hot tunes and soothing ballads of the Swing Era--plus many of the wonderful melodies from the two decades that followed.  The "Big Bands" played this music with a high degree of rigid orchestration.  The Survivors render it with a greater tilt towards improvisation, thus giving each pass at a tune somewhat of a new flavor while still keeping true to the original melodies.  Your memories of the "good old good ones" that we play will be readily revived!  With trumpet, saxes, piano, guitar, bass, and drums, let us entertain you!

“Diabetes 101”

Did you know that many people are actually diabetic but are undiagnosed for 6 to 10 years?  Left untreated diabetes can lead to long term complications including heart disease, stroke, neuropathy & kidney failure.

Mary Swansiger, BSN, MPH, Certified Diabetes Educator, from Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach and Parish Nursing Department, will be coming to Oxford Public Library, on Thursday, March 15th from 6 to 7pm, to talk about diabetes, the different types of diabetes, the symptoms, risk factors, treatment options, as well as prevention. Come and learn more about your risk for diabetes and how to prevent it. If you have prediabetes or diabetes already, Mary will further discuss the CDC Prevent T2 Diabetes Prevention Program and the Diabetes Self-Management Workshop, as well as the Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop, which can be held at Griffin Hospital, Oxford Senior Center and other locations in the near future.
