STEM Challenge: Rocket Cars

STEM Challenge: Rocket Cars (Ages 8-11)

Tues. 3/19 from 6pm-7pm

How can you power a vehicle with a balloon? Join us to experiment with different ways to construct and race balloon cars against each other!

Registration is required and space is limited to 10 friends.

This is a “Drop-Off” program: children 8 and older may attend without an adult. However, their parent/caregiver must drop them off and pick them up from inside the library at the designated program times.

We put the bags out first thing Monday mornings and leave them in the cabinet until Saturday afternoon.

The cabinet is open 24/7 so you can pick it up whenever is convenient :)

Any kits not picked up by Saturday afternoon will be given to friends on the waitlist.

Teen Poetry Contest!

For National Poetry Month, write an original poem on one of our bookmarks and decorate it! Bring it back to the library any time by April 29th. We put the bags out first thing Monday mornings and leave them in the cabinet until Saturday afternoon.

Any kits not picked up by Saturday afternoon will be given to friends on the waitlist.

Tues. 4/23 at 5:30pm

Whether you’re a pro or just learning, you’re bound to have a blast. You will be paired up against someone of similar skill, and if you’re just starting out, we will be playing in a group while you learn.

Registration is required and space is limited to 10 friends.

This is a “Drop-Off” program: children 8 and older may attend without an adult. However, their parent/caregiver must drop them off and pick them up from inside the library at the designated program times.

Every Wednesday at 10am “Baby Time”

 

Recommended for friends who are still practicing tummy time up to friends just starting to walk. Baby Time is very focused on interaction between the adult and baby attending.

Space is limited to 20!

Movie vs. Book Club: The One and Only Ivan (Ages 8+)

Thurs. 4/25 from 5pm-7pm

When you sign up for the program, we will order you a copy of the book and call you when it arrives. Then, on movie day, we will all watch the movie at the library and chat about both!

Book Summary: After the loss of her mother and her own battle with breast cancer, Joanna Teale returns to her graduate research on nesting birds in rural Illinois, determined to prove that her recent hardships have not broken her.  She throws herself into her work from dusk to dawn, until her solitary routine is disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious child who shows up at her cabin barefoot and covered in bruises.

Monday April 29, 2024

 

Craft kits are in the pick up cabinet next to the front door of the library and all of your supplies are in a bag with your name on it.

We put the bags out first thing Monday mornings and leave them in the cabinet until Saturday afternoon.

The cabinet is open 24/7 so you can pick it up whenever is convenient :)

Any kits not picked up by Saturday afternoon will be given to friends on the waitlist.

“What’s In, What’s Out?” Recycling Program

Tuesday 4/30 from 6pm-7pm

Find out which items should be placed into your recycling bin (What’s IN) and which items belong elsewhere (What’s OUT)! Sherill Baldwin from the CT Department of Energy and Environmental    Protection (DEEP) will provide an overview of acceptable materials in CT’s mixed recycling program. They will answer questions about recycling and trash.
