Free class for adults:  Microsoft Powerpoint.  Instructor Jenny Fisher will teach the basics of the Microsoft Powerpoint presentation software.  This is a free class for adults, but advance registration is required.  We will meet from 6:00-8:00 at the library.  Class is limited to five participants who need a computer station, but more registrants may participate who can bring their own wireless ready laptop with Powerpoint software installed.

The 2 - 5 year old STARS are welcome to come to a "Dreams and Wishes" storytime. Wishing books, games, snack and a "Dream Big" craft are included in this free event.  Children must be registered in the Summer Reading Program and signed up for this event by Monday, June 4.  Register online or email skestel@perry.lib.ia.us.

The body of the Teen Librarian has been found in the employee break room of the Community Center near the end of the first Kamot County KomixFest. Cause of death was not immediately determined, but the Sheriff's Department is currently seeking members of the Perry Public Library Teen Summer Reading Program to assist in investigating this top priority case.

We will be watching the Disney movie "Bedtime Stories" starring Adam Sandler.  It is 99 minutes in length and is rated PG for mild humor and language.No registration is needed to attend this event. Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.  
Synopsis Summary from bibliographic Record:   Marty Bronson raises his son and daughter on his own. He has to sell his homey motel to Barry Nottingham who promises to make Marty's son the manager. But, Nottingham pulls down the motel and builds a pricey hotel. Now grown up, Marty's son, Skeeter, works as a janitor and general servant. He still dreams of becoming the manager. When Nottingham announces a brand-new hotel, built on an existing school's property, he makes his future son-in-law, Kendall, manager. Skeeter's sister, Wendy, has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to help look after her two children, Patrick and Bobbi, with Wendy's colleague, Jill. He doesn't get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-going attitude loosens them all up. He starts telling the children bedtime stories and the children grow fond of him. They make suggestions about how the stories should go. Teen Summer Reading Program ~ Haunted Locations: This presentation takes the audience on a ghostly journey to some of the most haunted places in Iowa. It covers the entire state, from phantom creatures prowling the woods, to graveyard apparitions located in your own backyard. No place is without its own haunting. Complete with photos, case history, eyewitness accounts, ghost lore, and directions, this unique presentation encourages you to visit these places for your own ghost story. 

All children who have finished third through fifth grades (and are registered for summer reading) are welcome to attend a DREAMER'S program, Don't Wake the Animals.  We'll learn about nocturnal animals (animals that sleep during the day and are awake at night).  A bat craft, snack, game, and stories will be included in this program.  Register by Wednesday, June 13, on-line or email:  skestel@perry.lib.ia.us.

 Wow your friends and family by learning how to do magic tricks! Magician Rick Eugene will conduct a class and teach various techniques to the teen summer reading program. After the class, each participant will be able to take the necessary props in order to continue their magic routine at home. Class size is limited to twenty-five participants. "Animal Tales" is the program being presented by the Blank Park Zoo at our library for our STARS group.  We will read an exciting animal tale before meeting two new animal pals! This session is about 30 min. in length and is designed for children ages two to five years old. Many children dream of being a Zookeeper when they grow up. This program will demonstrate how those dreams can become reality. Along with discovering fun facts about the animals, children will also learn a Zookeeper’s duties, the care that is needed for each animal, and how they too can become a Zookeeper! OWLS (children registered that have finished kindergarten through second grades) are welcome to register by Wednesday, July 11 for a "Man In The Moon" party.  Games, crafts, books, and snacks having to do with the moon will be implemented.

Storytime

Families are welcome to come and watch "Fly Me To The Moon" and use the 3-D glasses you received at the Fourth of July parade.  Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.  Young housefly Nat is looking for adventure in outer space with his two friends.  In homemade space suits, they ride aboard Apollo 11 and become the first insects to journey into space.  After a potentially disastrous mechanical problem, these daredevil flies must save the day.  No registration is necessary.
