Learn to play the game of chess! This is for players that want to learn new strategies and ways to win as well as other chess “secrets”. Beginners are also welcome (those that do not know how to play at all). You will learn all the basic moves of the chess pieces, their values, piece interaction, and how to win (checkmate). Chess is a fascinating game, which can be played and enjoyed at all levels. Educational research indicates evidence of a strong positive correlation between chess and student academic performance. The practical application of the skills learned while playing chess are the same skills necessary for academic excellence and lifelong success:
Instructor Bio: David Aldi is a professional scholastic chess instructor working with hundreds of children ranging in age from 4 to 17 years old in many CT communities over the past 15 years including Greenwich, Fairfield, Glastonbury, West Hartford, Ellington, Torrington, Naugatuck, Southbury, Somers, Madison, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield. He works with children in public, parochial, and private school environments; home school co-ops; private home-based groups, and private one-on-one instruction venues.
