VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for Plainedge Public Library's "Spring Into Reading" Carnival scheduled for Monday, April 6 from 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. Rain cancels.  Applications will be made available beginning Monday, February 2 in the Children's Room for Plainedge School District students who are currently in grades 6 & up. Applications will be due by Monday, March 2.  Carnival volunteer spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and they may all be filled before the March due date. Applications will be available starting Monday, March 16 in the Children's Room for Plainedge school district students entering grades 6 & up in September 2015. No previous library volunteer experience necessary. A volunteer orientation for all applicants, however, is required even if you have volunteered for Summer Reading Clubs before. ~~Representatives from the AARP Tax-aide program will assist in completing  your 2014 tax returns.
 Due to increasing frequency of ID theft, the IRS is insisting we make positive identification of all tax payers through photo ID and Social Security cards.  SS cards and photo ID of
all persons listed on the tax return will be required for tax preparation.  In many cases only one spouse comes in to complete the tax return.  The IRS mandates that both parties on the tax return must be present!  BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! No walk ins. 
Resident in person sign-up begins Tues., Jan. 6, 2015.         Nonresidents will be placed on a waiting list.

Geared for preschool aged children and their parents. If you have preschool aged children getting ready for Kindergarten, The Plainedge Teacher Center and the Plainedge Public Library are collaborating once again to hold an event to promote awareness in the Plainedge community the importance of early literacy and the NYS Common Core Learning Standards for their children.

Come celebrate the love of reading with Dr. Seuss themed stories and crafts. There were also be raffles and early literacy giveaways! Kids will have fun while the parents walk away with the knowledge of NYS Common Core Learning Standards for their children. It is sure to be a worthwhile event!
