Join Jessica DeMarest for an introductory session on Reiki.

What is Reiki? Reiki is a natural and safe laying of hands that promotes spiritual and physical healing as well as self improvement. Reiki is a Holistic healing technique developed by the Japanese. Reiki helps the body utilize its own energy to heal through therapeutic touch.

Every living thing consists of energy that circulates throughout our bodies to promote a healthy environment for optimal health. At times this energy can become stagnant due to stress, injury, or illness. Reiki helps restore this energy, hence the body, to its highest performance.

What does a session consist of? A Reiki Session can last from 45-60 minutes.

The practitioner will have you lie on your back on a massage table or sit in a chair fully clothed with your eyes closed.

Soft music and essential oils are utilized to help with relaxation and healing.

The Practitioner will either lay hands on or hover just above the body depending on your preference.

Benefits experienced after Reiki:

Some people have reported that they were free from chronic pain for the first time or have significantly reduced pain.

Balances organs and the energy flow throughout the body

Promotes harmony for body, mind and soul

Compliments medical treatment and recovery

Release or reduction of stress

Emotional weight was lifted off their shoulders.

Are you interested in how Foreign Policy works? Would you like to contribute to national discussions and influence American diplomacy at home and abroad? Join Great Discussions by the Foreign Policy Association. The Foreign Policy Association serves as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues. Through its balanced, nonpartisan programs and publications, the FPA encourages citizens to participate in the foreign policy process.
This group will use the Great Decisions text published by the FPA. Copies of the text will be provided, however, participants are welcome to purchase their own copy at http://www.fpa.org/
The group will meet monthly and be run by members of the Plainville community interested in learning more about foreign policy.
Topics being discussed are from the Great Decisions text book and include:

  • The Future of Europe
  • Trade and Politics
  • Conflict in the South China Sea
  • Saudi Arabia in Transition
  • U.S. Foreign Policy and Petroleum
  • Latin America’s Political Pendulum
  • Prospects for Afghanistan and Pakistan
  • Nuclear Security

This group discussion is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about foreign policy. For more information contact the Reference Desk 860-793-1446
