    Contact: Lisa Fuller   5087638600   lfuller@sailsinc.org

Register soon for Plumb Library's annual Summer Library Program!  This year's statewide summer reading theme is Build A Better World. The Plumb Library program will begin June 21st, the last day of school in the ORR district, and will end August 21st.   Pre Registration will be open in early June.

Plumb offers something for everyone - from toddlers to adults - and everything is FREE.  Online Registration will be open in early June, and families are encouraged to sign-up together.  Ms. Lisa always visits RMS to share information and help families register.

Plumb Library is one of 150 libraries in MA that use an online registration and progress tracking system called Wandoo! This system allows users to sign-up for the program, and then track their accomplishments on their page, as well as complete many challenges, within a secure customized library program. In addition ,the children's program involves a character which users can customize as they earn credits from reading or completing challenges.

There is something every week for 9 weeks at your favorite community hub, Plumb Library!  Local and out of state performers are scheduled and registrants can attend FREE! Programs with local organizations like Studio 105 Yoga, Buzzard's Bay Coalition, and Rochester Land Trust are offered.  And, there are weekly in-house library activities each week, for 9 weeks!  As families read, and participate in library activities, and library challenges,  they earn chances to win prizes.  The children's program has a treasure chest, and the adults and young adult program offers gift certificates.  Everyone is eligible to win prizes when they participate! Children/young adults can select a free book each week.  The Boston Bruins offer special prizes as well!

We receive funding from our Friends group, and the Rochester Lions Club, as well as being supported by the MBLC, MLS and the Boston Bruins. However, we are always looking for new partners!  This is a win-win as we heavily promote all those organizations who assist us!  And, of course, we encourage families to support those groups who support us!  Let Ms. Lisa know if you can help!

    Contact: Lisa Fuller   5087638600   lfuller@sailsinc.org

2017 Summer Reading Program: Build a Better World: Hula Hooping for a Better World

This year, the one hour Pinto Bella Hoops program will add a constructive twist as we work together to build a better world through team work and repurposing house hold materials to make hula hoops.

The program will begin with a new book, written by Katie ‘Pinto’ LeBrun herself, that explains the process of making a hula hoop through the eyes of a young chicken. Pinto will then introduce the audience to the different kinds of hula hoops and how each one benefits our bodies and our minds. After a demonstration and a short performance, everyone gets a turn to try their moves on the hula hoop, and we will play some creative and team building games.

To end the program, we will work together to decorate a hula hoop with upcycled materials such as tapes, cloth, ribbons, and stickers (the decorated hula hoop is then given to the library to be used in a summer drawing or kept in the library for patrons to use year round). Pinto Bella sticks around for another 20-30 minutes to answer questions about hooping, where to take classes, and how to get your own hoop.
