The National Summer Library Program theme is Fitness, Wellness and Sports.  Join us for some physical and mental challenges this summer! 

As of June 1st, please go to plumblibrary.com to find the registration links for our program. There will be 2 links - Kids (4-14) and Adults (18+).   Ms. Lisa will be at RMS on June 2nd for Literacy Night to introduce Wandoo Reader, the new and improved registration and logging system, and to share summer plans. 

Registration begins June 1 and ends July 4. 

Programs begin June 20 and end August 20. 

Why register? 

  • Fun motivation to exercise minds and bodies over the summer.
  • Earn prizes, treats and awards!
  • Receive unique Bruins posters, certificates, and possibly special prizes!

Bring out the scientist, engineer, mathematician or techie in you!  All activities are hands-on and meant for children from ages 3-6 (and their grown-ups.) Families will work together to conduct simple and fun STEM activities.

Kick Off Plumb's Summer Library Program with "Marvelous Marvin's Brain Circus"!  Marvin has been performing children's theater for over 25 years. "Marvelous Marvin’s Brain Circus” begins with a rhyming overture about brain health and links with exercise and reading.  Then, the circus begins! Learn circus skills:  juggling props, balancing sticks, spinning plates, flip-and-flyers, hula hoops, rhythm sticks and romper stompers.

Plumb Library has partnered with the Buzzard's Bay Coalition, www.savebuzzardsbay.org, to create  Family Fridays. 

Family Fridays will offer free local outdoor activities presented by the Coalition on July 15, 22 and 29. 

The first activity:  East Over Quest/Orienteering at East Over Reservation, in Rochester. 

Orienteering is a family of sports that requires navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain, and normally moving at speed.

The second activity:  Beach Exploration/Seining the Shore! 

seine is a fishing net that hangs vertically in the water with its bottom edge held down by weights and its top edge buoyed by floats. Seine nets can be deployed from the shore as a beach seine, or from a boat.

Fitness through PLAY is  youth program best for ages 6 and up. 

Hula Hooping is great for the body, the brain, and the community!  After a demonstration and brief performance by Pinto Bella, all participants will get a chance to learn some Hoop Dance, try new moves, and play games!
 
This will be an outdoor show, weather permitting.  Bad weather location is the First Congregational Church.

Experience the therapeutic integration of yoga and the hula hoop!   This program is best for teens and adults!
 
This program is accessible for those who have never practiced yoga or hula hooping, but is also beneficial to the seasoned yoga practitioner or hula hooper. Participants will learn how to use the hula hoop to support and deepen their yoga practice, explore their range of motion and balance, and learn routines for core and upper body strength and stability. You’ll never look at a circle the same way again!
 
Pinto Bella is a certified Hula Hoop and Yoga Instructor. She completed her Yoga Teacher Training with the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA and Hula Hoop certifications through Hoopnotica and Punk Rock Hoops.
 
This will be an outdoor show, weather permitting.  Bad weather location is the First Congregational Church.
