A great introduction for beginners that covers different types of wash techniques along with color mixing and composition/sketching approaches. We will make a complete painting and also some quick practice studies. Assignments start out step-by-step, but then open up as your skill and confidence grow.

Supply list provided, please purchase prior to class and bring:

Please purchase the supplies below and bring to class:

Paint

  • 1 tube of yellow
  • 1 tube of red
  • 1 tube of blue

Please do not get the dry "cake or Pan" type, the liquid tube watercolor is what is needed.  This list is the bare minimum, but you can often find a whole set of colors for equal or less $ than buying the paints individually, just make sure that it contains these three.

  • Watercolor Paper (usually 140lbs. or more, NOT “multi media”paper)
  • 1 pad (or block)11" x 14"or15"
  • palette(s)  1 or 2 –lots of different options, maybe get a few and/or bring some flat plastic lids(like coffee can)
  • Watercolor brushes (1 small round, 1 large flat (for washes); again you can probably find a nice affordable pack (the more the better)
  • masking tape
  • scissors

Supply list for this series can be found here.
