Our friends at IBM are teaming up with the Library to teach computer programming through video game design to kids using Disney Infinity, an action-adventure sandbox video game platform that features many of your favorite Disney characters, open world creation and story-driven gameplay in this eight week program. Dr. Mihai Grunfeld, Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies at Vassar College, facilitates film viewing and discussion of "Prejudice and Pride" (1965-1980) - Episode 5 of the PBS documentary, "Latino Americans: 500 Years of History." Dr. Grunfeld teaches courses in Latin American literature and culture and Spanish language in the Hispanic Studies Department, where he has periodically served as chair. Mihai Grunfeld's research focuses on modern Latin American poetry, especially the Avant-Garde, and the intersection between literature and the visual arts as expressed, for example, in the Mexican muralism.
This program is made possible with a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association.
