Guest presenter Richard Schmidt, from the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, explains the excellent resources available and how to apply for them.  This practical information session is for parents with special needs children from Pre-K through age 21.  As their children age, many parents are not aware that the transition to adult services after high school graduation is not automatic and can take months to implement.

The Battle of the Books is a nationally recognized literature contest, where kids entering grades 6-9 in the fall answer trivia questions based on specific books that they have read. The Battle of the Books is a nationally recognized literature contest, where kids entering grades 6-9 in the fall answer trivia questions based on specific books that they have read. Kids recruited for this program will participate in a weekly book discussion group and enjoy practice activities in order to prepare for this exciting book competition. Join us for a sensory story time designed for children with special needs, including those with Autism, Down syndrome, sensory integration issues, speech/language delays, ADHD and other challenges. Enjoy a half hour story time that incorporates a schedule board and sensory opportunities for participants followed by a half -hour of socialization and play. Preschool and elementary age children with special needs accompanied by a caregiver are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Registration required.
