Adriance Memorial Library and the Foundation Center invite you to an overview of foundation fundraising and proposal writing present by Charlotte Dion, director of the library at the Foundation Center's New York Headquarters. Learn how you can access the resources of this unique clearinghouse for information on philanthropy and nonprofit funding here at the library, and explore key areas of the Center's web site. We'll provide a brief demonstration of Foundation Center Directory Online Professional, the preeminent tool for researching grant information. All members of the non-profit community are welcome and encouraged to attend, especially those looking for grants.

The ABC’s of Writing for Children with Karen Kaufman Orloff and Della Ross Ferreri

Karen and Della are very active members of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and are also co-coordinators for the Eastern New York SCBWI's annual conference, held in Poughkeepsie . Karen is an ex-magazine editor who currently writes a weekly column for The Poughkeepsie Journal. She is the author of the picture books, "I Wanna Iguana," and "If Mom Had Three Arms" as well as the forthcoming picture books, "Talk, Oscar -- Please!' and "I Need My Space," which is the sequel to "I Wanna Iguana." Della is the author of the picture books, "How Will I Ever Sleep In This Bed?' and "Star of the Show." She has also published two beginning readers, "Picnic on the Sidewalk," and "Hey! You're Eating My Homework."
Karen and Della have been giving workshops and classes together for the past five years and have enjoyed every minute. Come learn the creative and marketing aspects of writing for children with Karen and Della.
