    Contact: Debora Shon   (845)485-3445 x3313   dshon@poklib.org
A new collection from David Sedaris is cause for jubilation. His recent move to Paris has inspired hilarious pieces, including Me Talk Pretty One Day, about his attempts to learn French. His family is another inspiration. You Cant Kill the Rooster is a portrait of his brother who talks incessant hip-hop slang to his bewildered father. And no one hones a finer fury in response to such modern annoyances as restaurant meals presented in ludicrous towers and cashiers with 6-inch fingernails. Compared by The New Yorker to Twain and Hawthorne, Sedaris has become one of our best-loved authors.

Guinness penned several autobiographies before his 2000 death, all of which were quite well received by critics. This first of his reminiscences was released in 1985. Though he is known to American audiences through his popular film work with David Lean in the 1950s and 1960s up through his latter years as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy, Guinness here concentrates on his British theater experiences, recalling various productions and the people he worked with, many of whom were equally famous (John Gielgud, Noel Coward, etc.).
