Family History Hunt - scavenger hunt throughout Ridgefield , April 1 through June 1.
The Family History Hunt is a wonderful opportunity for children of all ages to explore Ridgefield and learn about local history throughout our community. Sponsored by the Keeler Tavern Museum. Family History Hunt books will be available at Keeler Tavern Museum and many locations in town. The book will guide you to sites of historical interest and provide information and thought provoking questions that are designed to broaden your knowledge of local history. Your completed Family History Hunt book will entitle you to prizes and a special invitation the Keeler Tavern Museum's 300th birthday party on June 15, 2013. First Position - Documentary Film Screening

In partnership with the Ridgefield Civic Ballet and the Ridgefield Public Library, the documentary “First Position” will be shown on Saturday, May 18 at 2:30 pm and is free and open to the public.
About First Position
First Position had its World Premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and was named the audience choice’s 1st runner-up for Best Documentary. It also won the Jury Prize at the San Francisco Doc Fest, the audience award for Best Documentary at the Dallas International Film Festival, the audience award for Best Documentary at the Portland International Film Festival, and the audience award for Best Documentary at DOC NYC. Prior to its completion, First Position won the WESTDOC PitchFest. Director Bess Kargmanwas also given the Best New Director award at the Portland International Film Festival in 2012.
About The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance
The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, the area's only non-profit dance school, is dedicated to educating and encouraging students to become knowledgeable, passionate, thinking artists. Students learn dance technique, artistry, and versatility and develop the skills of self-discipline, teamwork, confidence, and communication. In addition to engaging in rigorous dance instruction students aspire to professional level performing opportunities..

Nancy Moore, curator of "The Women" art exhibit at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists is also a Guild member artist and Guild board member. Nancy will give an introductory talk about this Guild "issues-oriented" show of artwork in a wide variety of media from myriads points of view on women. Selected artists will talk about their work. Refreshments will be served.
The Ridgefield Guild of Artists is a regional and community-based art organization that promotes the visual arts and arts education by providing: High quality gallery space for exhibition; Art classes for children and adults; Opportunities for artist-in residency programs and Art lectures on-site and in collaboration with other cultural organizations such as the Ridgefield Library.
Located in a 200 year old barn on Halpin Lane in Ridgefield, Connecticut, the Guild contains three large gallery spaces, a gift gallery and studio loft. RGA presents a full calendar of exhibitions each year, including: an Annual Juried Exhibition, a collaborative exhibition of emerging artists with the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, a holiday show called Festive Home, and several all-member shows. The Guild also works with individuals or groups to produce special exhibitions. Gallery hours are from Wednesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm and by special arrangement for rentals. Donofrio Technology Series:
Calling all students in grades 5-8, Join Ridgefield resident , science teacher and coach of the Sleepy Hollow Middle School Headless Horse-bots, a First LEGO League Robotics Tea, Mike Garguilo to work with robots, and learn programming .
Thanks to the generosity of the Donofrio family the Library has been able to offer an
ongoing series of programs, workshops and events that aim to inspire young people,
especially girls and minority students, to pursue science and engineering through
school, college and beyond.
The Donofrio Technology: Inspiring Kids in Science series has also helped the Library receive several prestigious grants to develop other science related programs such as the International Year of Astronomy 2009 program and the Einstein's Big Idea program for which the Library won an Outstanding Library Service Award in 2005.

Tickets are $15 for adults and children 12 and over, and $10 for seniors and children under 12.
Tickets will be available at the door the afternoon of the concert.
The Wind Ensemble will play some Civil War themed music during the concert and also at the Soldiers Fair to be held in Ballard Park on Saturday, June 8 at 1 p.m. This program is part of Ridgefield Remembers the Civil War: A town-wide, six-month series of programs and events to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Reading Is a Family Affair is a book discussion evening for children in grades 3, 4 & 5 accompanied by an adult. Participants are given a free copy of the book before the discussion. Adults and children are invited for a pizza dinner before the discussion, beginning promptly at 6:30. Registration is required in person at the library. The book discussed will be The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg, by Rodman Philbrick. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Ridgefield Library.
