The Salado Museum and College Park in conjunction with the Salado Public Library is offering a special presentation on Friday of the 57th Scottish Gathering and Highland Games weekend (November 9-11). Scottish singer and folklorist, Ed Miller, will present a one-hour lecture in word and song on the national poet of Scotland, Friday, Nov. 9, 1:00 pm, at the Salado Museum.

Ed Miller is a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, who came to Texas as a young man and has made Austin his home. He holds a graduate degree in Folklore and Geography from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to having recorded nine CDs of Scottish songs, he is a teacher, speaker, lecturer, radio host and leader of historical tours of Scotland. Mr. Miller’s one-hour presentation, Robert Burns - Songwriter, Folklorist and Scottish Icon, presents the life and work of Scotland's "National Bard" from the viewpoint of a present-day Scottish singer and folklorist. Using songs and slides to help illustrate Burns’ vital role in collecting, writing or refurbishing the traditional songs of Lowland Scotland, Mr. Miller will provide an entertaining presentation on Scotland’s most famous and revered poet and lyricist.
