Two talented entertainers (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye) team up after WWII to become one of the hottest acts in show business. They join forces with a sister act (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen) on a trek to a Vermont country inn at Christmastime.The adventure begins when they discover that the inn is run by their old army general, who is now in financial trouble. Can the inn be saved? With classic songs like Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep, Sisters, and White Christmas, how could they fail? (PG; 120 minutes; 1954)

Closed captions will be turned on to encourage audience participation. This program is free and open to the public.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is a family-friendly performance of choral music for the season. The program will include a variety of songs, from Medieval Carol Fantasy to Mele Kalikimaka, and Feliz Navidad. The chorus will perform both well-known seasonal favorites and newer compositions There will be a short audience sing-along at the conclusion of the concert.

The chorus sponsors voice lessons for a local high school senior to prepare for college vocal auditions. This year the chorus is sponsoring George Zaichenko from Silverton High School, who will perform a vocal solo.

The Salem Community Chorus (SCC) is a local, non-audition 60 member ensemble directed by Anna Robinson. More information is available at 503-967-6297 or www.scchorus.com.

Meeting the third Thursday of each month, club members will read books nominated for the Beverly Cleary Children’s Choice Award, finishing with a vote and reading celebration in March.

Salem Public Library hosts two adult book discussion groups, Books for Lunch and Books for Dessert. Participation in the groups is free and open to the public, and new members are always welcome. Copies of the discussion books are available for checkout at the Information Desk.
