Learn how to create a document using Word 2010.  In this series, you will name and save your file in a folder you create; become familiar with the basic features of Word used for letter writing and resume preparation; and explore template and craft features that allow you to prepare personalized documents just like a pro!

Come explore “just right” websites for your preschooler. During class time we will tour Internet sites that educate as well as entertain children from ages 3-5. Come and hear an author read their own books, learn another language, and see animals through use of video cams. You will discover free sites for crafts, recipes, as well as a few games designed to be shared with young children.


Knowledge of navigating the Internet is recommended.

Learn how to use the computer mouse with hands-on fun activities. Explore the keyboard with its arrows, special keys, and number pad. And, if you do not know how to type, use the two-finger approach, or need a refresher - the basic keyboarding skills section will be just what you need to get those ten fingers working for you. This series of three classes will give you a set of basic skills needed in today’s computer-connected world.

    The Friends of the Schenectady County Public Library will present a program on John Adams, second President of the United States and his wife Abigail, one of the most famous partnerships in American History. 

The speaker will be Jim Sefcik, retired Director of the Louisiana State Museum, lecturer for Union College’s Academy of Lifelong Learning, and presenter for the Friends of SCPL Books Sandwiched In. Mr. Sefcik has also taught American History at a number of colleges including Gannon, the University of New Orleans and Empire State College.
Refreshments will be served.

    The Friends of SCP will sponsor a trip to the Adams National Historical Park in Quincy, Ma., www.nps.gov/adam on Saturday, June 8, 2013 to visit the birthplaces of John Adams  and John Quincy Adams.  It is the oldest presidential birthplace in the United States.

The trip costs $70 for members and $80 for nonmembers. 
Registration begins March 6 and ends May 1.  Registration forms are available on the Friends website: www.friendsofscpl.org as well as the Main Library and Whitney Book Corner
