Poster & Essay Contest for Kids: Paws It Forward

This year’s theme is “Paw it Forward” and challenges kids to think about what they can do to make the world a better place for animals.
Participants can submit essays, poems or posters that illustrate ways to do good for the animals. All entries are to be mailed to or dropped off at APF, 52 Maple Avenue, Scotia.

Just Love: A Framework for Christian Sexual Ethicsby Margaret A Farley; reviewed by Joan Ham, frequent presenter at Books Sandwiched In and UCALL.
Dr. Farley has the honesty and courage to take a refreshing and candid look at sexual ethics among different ages, cultures and countries, taking thoughtful, respectful steps toward sexual mores for our time.
The Monday series of talks is held at noon in the McChesney Room of the Central Library on Clinton Street. You may bring a bag lunch; coffee and tea are available for a nominal fee. The room is equipped with special devices for the hearing-impaired. These programs are also broadcast on the Schenectady Public Access channel. See program listing for days and times.

Friends of the Library Adams National Historical Park Trip

The Friends of SCP will sponsor a trip to the Adams National Historical Park in Quincy, Ma., www.nps.gov/adam on Saturday, June 8, 2013 to visit the birthplaces of John Adams and John Quincy Adams. It is the oldest presidential birthplace in the United States.
The trip costs $70 for members and $80 for nonmembers.
Registration begins March 6 and ends May 1. Registration forms are available on the Friends website: www.friendsofscpl.org as well as the Main Library and Whitney Book Corner
