Jack Black stars as acclaimed Goosebumps writer R.L. Stine in this feature-film adaptation of the popular YA book series. A teenager named Zach (Dylan Minnette) reluctantly moves from New York City to the quiet town of Madison, DE, where he quickly realizes that his reclusive new neighbor is in fact the horror author of the Goosebumps series. Zach learns Stine's identity when he is drawn to the writer's daughter Hannah (Odeya Rush), but soon discovers the dangerous secret inside their home -- the creatures from Stine's famous stories are real, and are kept locked away inside their original manuscripts. After an accident frees the monsters, Zach, Hannah, and their nerdy pal Champ (Ryan Lee) must work together with Stine to save their town from destruction. Rob Letterman directed this family-friendly adventure. Screenplay by Darren Lemke; screen story by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. Author: Daniel Gelb. PG. Running time 103 minutes.

Trash Talkin’: Moving Toward Less Waste How much trash does Sharon generate compared to other Massachusetts towns? Where does our trash go beyond the curb?

Sustainable Sharon Coalition (SSC) is proposing a SMART program for Sharon - Save Money and Reduce Waste. Our goal is to educate residents about this program and get feedback from the community. The town's curbside trash and recycling collection contract expires in 2016; we are hopeful to present this proposal to improve our trash program to town officials with ample public support this coming spring.

Please join us for an informative, transformative, and entertaining presentation. As a town of educated citizens, let’s strive to be more sustainable, economical, and mindful with our trash.

Join us as we take apart or "reverse engineer" everything we can get our hands on from blenders to electric guitars and more. Disassembling an object helps us better understand how it works, as well as teaching practical, hands-on skills. We will not be breaking anything at Take Apart Tuesday - although we will be working on non-working, discarded, or unwanted items, it is always our goal to be able to reassemble whatever we dismantle. The items to take apart, as well as tools and safety equipment, will be provided, but attendees are more than welcome to bring an item from home. We are also accepting donations of broken or unwanted materials to the program (for safety reasons we cannot accept anything with glass, liquids, or that has been used to prepare foods).

    Contact: Miki Wolfe   781-784-1578 x1422   mwolfe@ocln.org

New England is as dotted with colorful and fascinating feuds as it is with low stone walls and big, red barns. And many of them go back just as far!  For instance, did you know that the Breeds and the Bunkers are still fighting over a hill? Or that the revolution is still being fought—by Lexington and Concord?!  From the colonial era, through early aviation (CT claims the Wright Bros. are wrong), to Red Sox-Yankees and present-day food fights, Ted Reinstein tells us who’s really “Wicked Pissed” in New England, and why.

Followed by Q&A, and book-selling/signing.

Ages 9 - 12

Registration required

This program investigates the science behind the “magic” of several classic magic tricks. You might learn how to snatch a tablecloth without disturbing the items on top, make a balloon fireproof, and use electromagnetism to defy gravity. For the grand finale, our educator demonstrates how science can make it safe to lie down on a real bed of nails.
