Join us at Peace Dale Library on Monday, August 28, 6 PM, with historian Brian Wallin for a slideshow and talk about the colorful history of the Narragansett Pier Railroad, which ran from West Kingston to Narragansett starting in 1876 along the route now known as the South County Bike Path. 

Brian Wallin writes for the Online Journal of Rhode Island History and lectures frequently on topics of local history.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is preferred but not required at 789-1555 xt 110 or jwilson@skpl.org.

In Bed By Ten, a local ukulele jam group will be hosting free ukulele lessons and a ukulele jam session twice a month beginning June 22nd at the Kingston Free Library. The workshops will be begin at 5:00 pm for beginning students only. At 6:00 pm the workshop will be for more advanced and experienced players. Dr. Post, a chiropractic physician, author, teacher, and long-time meditator, defines "the Zone" as a "place where people are able to maximize and even go beyond their potential, seemingly with ease...where performance goes beyond levels commonly attained by others." This program focuses on keys to help you get into "the Zone" through focused accurate meditation. There will be a practical meditation demonstration and a Q & A.

An unhappy English couple moves to Shanghai. When the husband learns of the wife's infidelity, he insists they move to a remote villag ravaged by a deadly epidemic. What starts out as an act of vengeance ends up bring meaning and purpose to their lives. Based on the 1925 novel by W. Somerset Maugham. Directed by John Curran, starring Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, and Liev Schreiber.
