Join us for a panel discussion with local authors on "Why We Write", Wednesday, August 27, 2 PM, at Peace Dale Library.

Moderated by Prof. Nancy Shuster, the panel will feature local writers Dorothy Devine, Jane McCarthy, and Marie Younkin-Waldman speaking about what inspires them, what started them writing, why they keep at it, and the rewards they find in it.

Prof. Nancy Shuster is the author of Hearing Loss and Winning Solutions, and the leader of numerous workshops on topics such as writing, speed reading, public speaking, and hearing loss.

The event is free of charge and open to the public, and funded by Friends of the Peace Dale Library.

Join us on Saturday, September 6, 2 PM, for "Meditation, the Universe, and You" with Dr. Alan Post.

The talk is designed to provide an introduction into the multifaceted world of meditation and is based on a 2012 book, Medication as Medication for the Soul by Rajinder Singh, to which Dr. Post contributed a chapter.

His description of the program: "...You may have heard about meditation and that it can be helpful for physical health, stress reduction and peace of mind. It has helped many find purpose in their lives, access creativity, and improve performance...Dr. Post will encourage, inspire, and motivate you to explore your own 'Inner Space'."

Dr. Alan Post, D.C., has been meditating for 30+ years, is a chiropractic physician with a B. S. in Human Biology, and is a 1982 honors graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. He has post-graduate certification in acupuncture. In 1993 he was a member of a North American Physician Delegation to China. He is past president of both RI State and North East regional chiropractic associations, and a past member of the Advisory Board at the University of Bridgeport Chiropractic College. He maintains two active patient care practices in RI and has received numerous professional awards.

The event is free of charge and open to the public.
