    LIBRARY LAPSIT -- Books, finger plays, simple rhymes and songs create a gentle program focused on language-building play.  This program is for children aged birth to 2 years 6 months and takes place on Mondays at 10:30 am, April 22 and 29, May 6, 13, 20 and June 3.  There will be NO storytime on Monday, May 27, Memorial Day.  Placement preference is given to Seekonk residents.

Registration is from Monday, April 1 through Saturday, April 27.

    FAMILY NIGHT! -- Big Joe the Storyteller will be making a return visit to our Library to present fun, interactive stories for all ages to enjoy!  People often describe Joe's storytelling style as “exciting”, “energetic”, “animated”, and “amazing”. He has been called a “human cartoon”, a “funny force of nature”, and (from the Boston Herald) “The Robin Williams of the G-Rated set”. 
This program is sponsored by The Friends of Seekonk Public Library.  It is FREE and open to the public.

    Seekonk Public Library, in cooperation with P.A.C.E. Child Care Works in New Bedford, offers a Parent-Child Play Group on Fridays from 10 am until 12 noon in the Library’s Meeting Room.

The play group is for children 18 months to 3 years old and is scheduled every Friday morning. It will be facilitated by the Associates for Human Services  Early Intervention Program and offered through the Dighton, Rehoboth, Seekonk and Swansea Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant. Any child from these communities and who is within the age range of 18 months to 3 years, is eligible to attend.

A variety of toys and materials, as well as group activities including music and snack time, will be offered to participants.  Children attend play group with a parent or adult caregiver.

Registration is required.  Please call (508) 336-8230 ext 140 to be added to the waiting list for this program.

In this program Russet Morrow, URI Master Gardener, will share all the basics you need to know for backyard composting. The EPA estimates that nearly 15% of the waste stream in the US is from yard trimmings. Turning yard trimmings into what gardeners call “black gold” and using it in your garden is inexpensive, helps create healthy soil and helps lessen our carbon footprint on the environment. Come learn the basics of this gardening technique – this session is worth its weight in “black gold.”

Ed takes a lot of pride in bringing smiles to his friend's faces. Whether he is performing a magic show or making a balloon creation, he is entertaining. The magic in what he does is not making a big duck riding a motorcycle out of balloons or fooling someone during a magic show, but the laughter that it brings. That is the TRUE MAGIC!!
