During this 4 week workshop, children will work on individual writing projects with Judy Carlson. Judy has extensive experience with children and writing and she has led many children's reading/writing programs. The workshop will be held on the following dates: Friday, January 13, 20, February 3 and 10.  There is no class on January 27.

The magazine that is created will include a theme that the children will use to prompt their creativity. Writing will be done during the weekly Friday sessions but the program will require some time spent writing at home. In attendance at the program will be Judy's non-allergenic Labradoodle, Oliver. Oliver is a trained pet therapy dog who will be attending simply as a guest. Children respond well to Oliver's gentle presence and writing exercises may be prompted by him being in the room.

The end result of the 4 week program will be a literary “magazine" that contains one or more typed submissions from each writer. In addition to these written submissions, there will also be an opportunity for participants to submit drawings, artwork or cartoons.

The program is open to all children who are writing on their own. The program is free for families but a SAILS Library card is required and a commitment to the four weeks is needed. Minimum number of children needed for the program to be held is 8.

This program is FULL but please sign up on our waiting list in case there is a cancellation and to be informed of future writing programs.

Girls can expect to work on a Computer Science Impact project where skills will be used to solve a problem relevant to the Club and community. The Club is free but a SAILS Library card and registration are required.

The first two meetings were held Saturday, December 10 and 17 from 10 am - 12 noon.

The remaining meetings will be held on all the Saturdays in January and February from 10 am - 12 noon.
