Seekonk Public Library, in cooperation with P.A.C.E. Child Care Works in New Bedford, offers a Parent-Child Play Group on Fridays from 10 am until 12 noon in the Library’s Meeting Room.
The play group is for children 18 months to 3 years old and is scheduled every Friday morning. It will be facilitated by the Associates for Human Services Early Intervention Program and offered through the Dighton, Rehoboth, Seekonk and Swansea Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Grant. Any child from these communities and who is within the age range of 18 months to 3 years, is eligible to attend.
A variety of toys and materials, as well as group activities including music and snack time, will be offered to participants. Children attend play group with a parent or adult caregiver.
Registration is required. Please call (508) 336-8230 ext 140 to be added to the waiting list for this program.

Local artist Sarah Jane Lapp will present a series of workshops to teach hand drawn animation and produce short animated spots for TV9.
Learn how to make your drawings move and make mini-movies out of your memories. Share your wisdom with our community and learn a new skill!
Bring a bag lunch and your curiosity. No drawing or animation experience necessary.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Seekonk Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Paula Paluch, owner of Shanti Yoga & Fitness in Rehoboth, will lead 3 sessions of Yoga for Seniors beginning on Monday, July 8.
Yoga has been shown to have multiple health and wellness benefits including increased circulation, relief from joint pain or arthritis, and normalizing blood pressure. Even someone who has never been physically active can learn to adapt the practice of yoga to serve our more mature bodies, minds and spirits. If you're a senior who has tried or been interested in experiencing the benefits of yoga, this introductory series is for you! This class is open to all levels, beginners to advanced.

This FAMILY NIGHT is sponsored by The Friends of Seekonk Library! Featuring folksinger and storyteller Tim Van Egmond, who will present a special celebration for the Library's Summer Reading Program~ Van Egmond's performance "The Wonder Underground" will weave together stories and songs about digging, gardening, and subterranean adventures. Find out how Kantchil the Mouse Deer uses her wits to get out of a deep hole in Kantchil Waits for the World to End," how a farmer discovers a huge treasure chest in a cave but hears a voice telling him he must take "Todo O Nada (All or Nothing), " what happens when yams in Ghana tell a farmer digging them up to leave them alone in "Talk," and more! Van Egmond will accompany himself on a variety of traditional instruments, cinluding mountain dulcimer, mouth ow, conga drum and limberjack (a dancing wooden puppet that taps out a rhythm on a paddleboard).
Free and open to the public! No registration is required!
