Children’s Art Contest - All Month of August

Children in grades 2-5 are invited to submit original pieces of art (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photos, etc.) to our art contest! We will accept submissions measuring no more than 14” tall or wide from August 1st-31st, for display throughout the month of September. The winning artwork will be featured as our Facebook cover image.

Kids and dogs go together like books and reading.  Letting a child read to a dog builds confidence by providing a friendly, furry and non-judgemental listener.  Sessions of 10-15 minutes for ages 6 and up are available, but space is limited.  You can register by calling the appropriate branch up to two weeks before the scheduled event.

The Pickens County Friends of the Library will be hosting a used book sale on September 4th, 5th and 6th.  The sale will be held at the Appalachian Campus of Chattahoochee Technical College in Jasper, and proceeds benefit the Pickens County Library. 

The hours are:

Thursday, September 4th: 4PM to 6PM - NOTE: Admission on Thursday is restricted to members of the Friends of the Pickens Library.  However, non-members can join TheFriends a the door to gain admission.

Friday, September 5th: 9AM - 6PM -  Open to the public

Saturday, September 6th: 9AM - 1PM - Open to the public.
