March 26th is “Make Up Your Own Holiday” Day.  Children of all ages may come by the youth desk at any time during the month of March to tell us what holiday you would make up, how you would celebrate, when you would celebrate, etc.  Materials will be available at the library, or you may bring something you did from home.  The collection will be on display all month.

session. Call your local Cherokee County or Pickens County Libraries to reserve your spot for one of our Reading Dog
programs.

Knitting Instruction 

Interested in learning how to knit? We have a retired teacher who would love to share her knitting skills with others. We are meeting at Rose Creek Public Library every Tuesday at 1:00 PM.  Bring your yarn, knitting needles and be prepared to have fun! It’s free…just call Rose Creek Library to register (770-591-1491).

Kids and dogs go together like books and reading.  Letting a child read to a dog builds confidence by providing a friendly, furry and non-judgmental listener.  Sessions of 10-15 minutes for ages 6 and up are available, but space is limited.  You can register by calling the appropriate branch up to two weeks before the scheduled event.

Join us for our monthly adult program sponsored by The Gilmer County Friends of the Library on the fourth Thursday of the month. This month, Gilbert “Rockman” Treadwell will be presenting an informative program about the metamorphic rocks under our feet here in the Southern Appalachians, South Georgia deposits, and Northwest Georgia’s Paleozoic rocks. There will be many samples of the different rocks to examine and “Rockman” will be bringing a geological map of Georgia.
