The very talented Longmeadow High School art students will be exhibiting their work during the month of January.   Senior works on display are from the Advanced Placement 2D Studio Art Program.  Other works were produced in the Digital Art classes, Honors Art, Drawing & Painting, and 2D Design.  Most of the art featured is the result of problem-solving design assignments, an exploration of traditional mediums, digital techniques as well as self-directed study.  An evening reception will be held on Wednesday, January 24th from 6:30-7:30.  Come in to meet and greet exceptionally talented students and their art teacher Hilary Godin.  Light refreshments will be served.  During January, the public is welcome to view this exhibit any time the room is not in use.

 

 

Many students, using different mediums will be showcasing their art in the Betty Ann Low Room.  Please come in to view these paintings and see how talented your local high school students really are!  The public is welcome to view the exhibit any time the room is not in use.

Story Time is a transitional Early Literacy Class designed to continue children's comfort level with books and promote independence at the Library.  Children listen to stories, sing, play active and literacy games, and continue to work on appropriate behaviour.  Children attend the first half of the program alone, then are joined by a caregiver to assist with the art project.
Advance Registration is Required.

On, Tuesday January 16, Wednesday January 17 and Thursday January 18, Longmeadow High School students are invited to study for final exams until 10 p.m. at Storrs Library. Meeting Rooms are available for group study. Refreshments will be provided after 5 p.m. LHS ID required for admission. This is an LHS only event. From 5-10 p.m. the Library will be closed to all others. 

Late Nights with LISA!  Lisa Katz will offer a yoga class as a relaxing break for hard working students.  There will be two sessions. Join her at 7:30 PM or at 8:00 PM

Children of all abilities and stages of development are welcome at Storrs Library. Sensory-enhanced storytime is an inclusive program developed for all ages, children through young adults, who are on the autism spectrum or differently abled, and is presented at a preschool level of development. Sensory Storytime will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month from September through April. We will offer a consistent and caring environment to come together for songs, picture books, simple crafts and/or activities. Feedback from caregivers will always be welcome.

Come in to view a traveling exhibit by extremely talented Ukrainian children aged 8-13.  All different mediums are used including paper cutting, watercolors, acrylics and 3 dimensional art.  This exhibit is dedicated to promoting peace through arts and culture.  A lecture explaining the artwork and the meaning behind the exhibit will take place on Tuesday evening February 6th from 6:30-7:30.  Light refreshments will be served. The artwork may be viewed any time the exhibit room is not in use.

Join us to welcome a speaker explaining the history and meaning behind the Storrs Library February exhibit.  The traveling art exhibit is comprised of artwork by Ukrainian children from the ages of 8-13.  These talented students use different mediums such as watercolors, acrylics and 3 dimensional paper cutting.  This exhibit is dedicated to promoting peace through arts and culture.

Children of all abilities and stages of development are welcome at Storrs Library. Sensory-enhanced storytime is an inclusive program developed for all ages, children through young adults, who are on the autism spectrum or differently abled, and is presented at a preschool level of development. Sensory Storytime will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month from September through April. We will offer a consistent and caring environment to come together for songs, picture books, simple crafts and/or activities. Feedback from caregivers will always be welcome.

Come to the library to see a collection of fashion magazine sketches by the famous New York City artist Benita Zundell.  These sketches of women's clothing are from fashion magazines and were seen all over the world.   An art reception to meet the artist's daughter will be held Monday, March 5 from 6:30-7:30 with light refreshments served   Please join us!  During the month, Benita's exhibit may be viewed anytime the Betty Ann Low Room is not in use.

Children of all abilities and stages of development are welcome at Storrs Library. Sensory-enhanced storytime is an inclusive program developed for all ages, children through young adults, who are on the autism spectrum or differently abled, and is presented at a preschool level of development. Sensory Storytime will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month from September through April. We will offer a consistent and caring environment to come together for songs, picture books, simple crafts and/or activities. Feedback from caregivers will always be welcome.

Join actor Sheryl Faye for an evening of Eleanor Roosevelt. Roosevelt was the longest-serving First Lady of the United States. She was the first presidential spouse to hold press conferences, write a syndicated newspaper column, and speak at a national convention. She advocated for expanded roles for women in the workplace, the civil rights of African Americans, Asian Americans, World War II refugees, and became one of the first delegates to The United Nations. She remains one of the top ten most admired people of the 20th century.  Sheryl Faye is a performer presenting historical characters. She received her BFA  from Emerson College.

During his six month journey he documented the rugged beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, the wildlife, the hardships encountered on the trail, as well as the people, culture and humanity at its finest.  Join Sam as he takes you through the trail towns, over the mountaintops, and through the backcountry. Children of all abilities and stages of development are welcome at Storrs Library. Sensory-enhanced storytime is an inclusive program developed for all ages, children through young adults, who are on the autism spectrum or differently abled, and is presented at a preschool level of development. Sensory Storytime will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month from September through April. We will offer a consistent and caring environment to come together for songs, picture books, simple crafts and/or activities. Feedback from caregivers will always be welcome.
