Local yoga instructor Jane Bielen Schear teaches a weekly yoga and meditation class for adults in the community room at Main Library. The yoga portion begins at 11:00 and runs for about 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of meditation. Participants need not stay the entire time. You can attend the yoga portion alone, come at Noon for the meditation or stay for the whole class.

This is a free program. No previous experience is necessary. Wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one.

No registration is required, but make sure you exchange contact information with Jane the first time you attend to be contacted about any scheduling changes. The group meets every Saturday except the third Saturday of the month.

Join musician John Sheehan for a musical and historic overview of the guitar. In his own words:

Starting with 16th Century Lute music performed on Renaissance Lute and Guitar moving through Baroque and Classical period guitar the program will migrate from these European traditions to American music. Examples of South American music and American Blues, Country, Folk and Rock will then morph to a Contemporary Finger style guitar end to the program.

The performance will be followed by light refreshments.

This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Dorothy Henry Library and is recommended for adults and children in middle school and older.

The more you know about the SAT the less stressful the test becomes. Teens in grades 9-12 are invited to Main Library this evening for a FREE session presented by Kaplan on practical strategies that will help improve your SAT scores.

If you were here on April 5 to take the practice SAT you can ask specific questions about your results and how to improve, but even if you didn't make the April 5 test you can still benefit from this strategy session.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to Pat Salvatoriello's certified therapy shelties. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The shelties never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  3:45, 4:00, 4:15 or 4:30. Registration has begun and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

The LC Readers will meet the first Wednesday of selected months from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Group picks will focus on thought-provoking, enjoyable, contemporary literature with occasional discussion of classical literature and notable nonfiction as well.

For our May meeting the group will read and discuss The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. The book is available in regular and large print, as an audio book on CD and as an e-book. Local yoga instructor Jane Bielen Schear teaches a weekly yoga and meditation class for adults in the community room at Main Library. The yoga portion begins at 11:00 and runs for about 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of meditation. Participants need not stay the entire time. You can attend the yoga portion alone, come at Noon for the meditation or stay for the whole class.

This is a free program. No previous experience is necessary. Wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one.

No registration is required, but make sure you exchange contact information with Jane the first time you attend to be contacted about any scheduling changes. The group meets every Saturday except the third Saturday of the month.

The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. You must bring a bagged lunch and something to drink for the afternoon.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to Pat Salvatoriello's certified therapy shelties. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The shelties never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  3:45, 4:00, 4:15 or 4:30. Registration has begun and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

The Community Room at Main Library is filled with toys and books. The Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library invite you to their 2014 Spring Book Sale which raises funds to support special library programs for children, teens and adults.

Thousands of used books, movies, music CDs and audiobooks will be on sale. The event will wrap up with a $2.00 per bag sale on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 p.m.

Due to limited storage space we will only be accepting donations for the sale from Saturday, May 10 through Wednesday May 14 during regular library hours. We welcome donations of the following items in good condition: children's and adult books, DVDs, audiobooks and music CDs. Local yoga instructor Jane Bielen Schear teaches a weekly yoga and meditation class for adults in the community room at Main Library. The yoga portion begins at 11:00 and runs for about 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of meditation. Participants need not stay the entire time. You can attend the yoga portion alone, come at Noon for the meditation or stay for the whole class.

This is a free program. No previous experience is necessary. Wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one.

No registration is required, but make sure you exchange contact information with Jane the first time you attend to be contacted about any scheduling changes. The group meets every Saturday except the third Saturday of the month.
