Come to the Main Library for books, songs, fingerplays and more as we celebrate our Every Hero Has A Story summer reading theme.

Elementary school teacher Holly Romahn is back for her 4th summer running the LEGO Games Club. Every Thursday morning in July Ms. Romahn will offer challenging LEGO games that test players' imagination and building skills.

Space is limited to 20 children entering second grade and older. You must complete a separate registration for each meeting date and each child participating. Registration for today's club begins July 16.

Kids entering Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a Teen Reading Buddy! Thursdays in July we'll be pairing readers with our teen volunteers to share their favorite stories. Reading aloud is a great way to instill confidence and improve reading skill. Since listening skills are equally important, our Teen Reading Buddies are ready to do the reading themselves for children who prefer to listen and follow along.

To be assured a reading opportunity please complete our online registration beginning two weeks before each date. Children are also welcome to drop in anytime between 10:00-11:00 a.m. and will be paired with a Teen Reading Buddy as they become available.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to keep up their reading skills this summer by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog or Seeing Eye Puppy-in-Training.

Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

This program will be held Thursdays in July (except July 23) and the first two weeks in August. Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  1:00, 1:15, 1:30 or 1:45 p.m. Registration is in person or over the phone by calling the Dennis Branch at 973 383-4810. Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

Your device must have basic setup done (out of the box, set up, passwords entered, charged and know the basics). You may need the password for your App Store (don't worry, all library-related apps are free) and will definitely need your library card to checkout content from our site.

Drop in anytime between 10:00-11:30 a.m. No registration required.

What should you do if you get lost in the woods? Stay put and wait to be found? Keep wandering? Climb a tree?

Jen Enberg from New Jersey Search and Rescue will talk to children about how to keep from getting lost, but if they do, the best strategies for being quickly found. She'll also bring an advanced trainee search and rescue dog for kids to meet.

This informative program is free for the whole family but space is limited by room size. Please complete a separate registration for each family member staying for the program. Registration begins July 20.

Ralph Tillinghast, director of the Collaboration and Innovation Laboratory at Picatinny Arsenal, will show off the latest in sensor technology. And although it's not a truly recent innovation, he'll bring along a Segway for everyone to try because they are really very fun!

Boomer provides an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading.  You must sign up for a specific time slot: 2:00, 2:15, 2:30 or 2:45. The Delaware Valley Raptor Center is a non-profit, federally licensed rehabilitation organization dedicated to caring for orphaned, ill and injured birds of prey so they can ultimately be returned to the wild. A representative from the DVRC will be on hand to talk about their work with these magnificent birds and the importance of treating raptors and their habitats with respect.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to keep up their reading skills this summer by reading aloud to Whoopie, a beautiful and patient St. Bernard therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Whoopie provides an uncritical ear while the child gains self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skill and a love of reading. Whoopie never interrupts or criticizes!

This program will be held every Wednesday evening in July and August. Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 6:30, 6:45, 7:00, or 7:15 p.m. Registration is in person or over the phone by calling the Sussex-Wantage Branch Library at 973 875-3940. Please arrive on time with a couple of books to read or early enough to pick out some library books.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to Main Library the 2nd Tuesday of each month to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to Flounder, a beautiful and patient Newfoundland therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Flounder provides an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. Flounder never interrupts or criticizes!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 6:30, 6:45, 7:00 or 7:15. Registration begins two weeks before each program date and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660.  Please arrive on time with a couple of books to read or early enough to pick out some library books.

Flounder is a brown Newfoundland much like the dog pictured above.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins September 8 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

Flounder provides an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. Flounder never interrupts or criticizes!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 6:30, 6:45, 7:00 or 7:15. Registration begins two weeks before each program date and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660.  Please arrive on time with a couple of books to read or early enough to pick out some library books.

Flounder is a brown Newfoundland much like the dog pictured above.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to Main Library the 2nd Tuesday of each month to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to Flounder, a beautiful and patient Newfoundland therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time.
