Children ages 5-10 are invited to Main Library the 2nd Tuesday of each month to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to Flounder, a beautiful and patient Newfoundland therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Flounder provides an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. Flounder never interrupts or criticizes!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 6:30, 6:45, 7:00 or 7:15. Registration begins two weeks before each program date and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660.  Please arrive on time with a couple of books to read or early enough to pick out some library books.

Flounder is a brown Newfoundland much like the dog pictured above.
