The LC Readers meets the first Wednesday of selected months from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Group picks will focus on thought-provoking, enjoyable, contemporary literature with occasional discussion of classical literature and notable nonfiction as well.

For today's meeting the group will read and discuss Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larsen. The book is available in several formats. Click on the title to be linked to our catalog and request a copy in the format and at the location most convenient to you.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to the Sussex-Wantage Branch to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Therapy dogs provide an uncritical ear while the child gains self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skill and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 6:30, 6:45, 7:00, or 7:15 p.m. Registration is in person or over the phone by calling the Sussex-Wantage Branch Library at 973 875-3940. Please arrive on time with a couple of books to read or early enough to pick out some library books.

Stop by the Dennis Branch tonight, anytime between 6 and 7:30 pm, for a personal tutorial on how to use your device to access the electronic resources on our website. No registration is required, just drop in with your device and a desire to learn.

Before you come, your device must have basic setup completed and be charged (bring the power cord if you're not sure). Please bring your library card, email address and password, and the password you use to access the App or Google Play store (but don't worry, library apps are free).

Advice for Your Device will be held the second Monday evening of each month. If your Mondays are full, call Mary Martin at 973-383-4810 to make an appointment at a time convenient to you.

The Sussex County Division of Senior Services is hosting a one-day course for motorists over 50. You'll learn to:

  • avoid driving hazards
  • recognize changes in vision, hearing and reaction times

Learn how the puppies of the 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Project* are socialized and trained by puppy raisers who are both children and adults. These puppies are so cute and represent many breeds including Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds. If you love learning about dogs, especially the ones that serve people, this is the place to be!

You will also find out how you can become a puppy raiser!

This will be a fun program for the whole family but space is limited. Please register beginning April 18 and create a separate form for each family member attending.

*The Seeing Eye is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to enhance the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of blind people through the use of Seeing Eye dogs. Special thanks to Linda Kabis of the 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Club for sharing her work and the club's puppies with us.

Stop by the Dennis Branch tonight, anytime between 6 and 7:30 pm, for a personal tutorial on how to use your device to access the electronic resources on our website. No registration is required, just drop in with your device and a desire to learn.

Before you come, your device must have basic setup completed and be charged (bring the power cord if you're not sure). Please bring your library card, email address and password, and the password you use to access the App or Google Play store (but don't worry, library apps are free).

Advice for Your Device will be held the second Monday evening of each month. If your Mondays are full, call Mary Martin at 973-383-4810 to make an appointment at a time convenient to you.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to Main Library the 2nd Tuesday of every month to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog.

Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Therapy dogs are great listeners and never interrupt or criticize. The children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading.

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  6:00, 6:15, 6:30 or 6:45. Registration begins May 31 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660. Register early, slots fill up quickly. Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

The Onigiri Animanga Club meets the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month in the Community Room at Main Library. Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to join in as we discuss our favorite manga, watch anime, indulge in cosplay, try interesting snacks and more. Come join the fun.  New members are always welcome, no registration required.
