Join Miss Beverly at the Franklin  Branch for an opportunity to socialize your little ones while learning stories and songs to add to your repertoire.

Lap Sit is for children ages 6 months through 2 years and their parents/caregivers. There will be stories, songs and fingerplays that encourage a love of words and whimsy which are the first steps toward raising good readers.

Children must be accompanied by a caregiver, and younger and older siblings are also welcome.

Space is limited to 30 participants. Registration is preferred but walk-ins will be welcome if space allows. Registration begins March 13. Please complete a separate form for each child.

LEGO Club meets in four locations each month. All meetings include a theme/book talk followed by LEGO creating with special challenges planned for older kids.

LEGO Club is open to kids in K-8 but space is limited. Register here beginning March 13 for the meeting at the Franklin Branch. Walk-ins will be welcome only if space allows.

Kids in Kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to stop by the Franklin Branch every Friday from March 27 through April 24 to work hands-on with a variety of projects. We'll bring the supplies, you supply the imagination. How would you combine computer parts, duct tape, and wood?  What can you make with paper, recycled items, and die-cuts? Work on one project for several weeks or try something new every time.

Please register separately for each week. The registration period begins two weeks before each program date. There is no meeting on April 3.

Bailey, Owen and Preston the puppy will be at the Franklin Branch today to help children practice reading aloud.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading stories to a therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs  provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs are patient listeners and never criticize or interrupt!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45 Registration begins March 19 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Franklin Branch at 973 827-6555. Register early, slots fill up quickly. Please arrive on time with a couple of books to read or early enough to pick out some library books.
