The American Girls Club is returning this fall and will be meeting the second Saturday of each month at the Louise Childs Branch. Girls in grades 4-6 (and all lovers of the books) are invited to join in as we study a different historic doll each month, and discuss her corresponding book. Each meeting will feature a history lesson, a snack and a simple hands-on craft or activity.

Please register so we have enough supplies for all.

This special program encompasses a wide age range making it perfect for kids with younger siblings. Registration is preferred but walk-ins will be welcome if space allows. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins September 8 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

Attention all builders in Kindergarten through 8th grade, if you love LEGOs (and who doesn't!) join us at any or all of the locations below for a monthly meeting of LEGO Club.

We've gathered a large and varied collection of our favorite plastic building bricks that can be put together in endless combinations. Work alone, bring a friend, or even make a new friend as you build, rearrange and even demolish all your LEGO creations. Registration preferred and begins August 26 but walk-ins will also be welcomed if space allows.
