Children ages 5 to 10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to Odin, a friendly, certified service/therapy dog. Odin provides an uncritical ear and never interrupts. Children who read aloud gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. 

Call or stop by to reserve a time slot for your child. Please arrive on time with a book you'd like to read or early enough to choose a library book. Odin loves a good story.

Minecraft enthusiasts in first grade and older are invited meet like-minded gamers and swap tips and tricks with other Minecrafters!

Children are encouraged to bring their own device (laptop, iPad, iPod, Android, etc.). If using a phone or tablet, gamers should have the Minecraft Pocket Edition app already installed.

Club limited to 15 players. Registration is preferred and begins May 31. Walk-ins also welcome if space allows.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to Main Library the 2nd Tuesday of every month to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog.

Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Therapy dogs are great listeners and never interrupt or criticize. The children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading.

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  6:00, 6:15, 6:30 or 6:45. Registration begins May 31 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660. Register early, slots fill up quickly. Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

Build with virtual blocks and LEGO blocks at the new Builder Club at the Franklin Branch. Kids in Kindergarten and older are invited to share tips and tricks with other Minecrafters and/or create actual buildings with our extensive LEGO collection.

Children interested in playing Minecraft are encouraged to bring their own device (laptop, iPhone, iPod, Android device. . .) with the Minecraft Pocket Edition app preloaded.

Registration is preferred and begins June 3.

Calling all Star Wars fans! Members of the 501st Legion will visit Main Library in full Star Wars costume. They'll give a brief talk, answer all your Star Wars questions and take pictures with their fans. There will be Star Wars themed activities, movies and books to check out too!

Advance registration recommended but walk-ins will be welcome as space allows and Legion members will be walking around the Library as well. Registration begins June 1st.
