R.E.A.D. began this summer and was so much fun they just can't stop! This month read any title from the Poppy series by Avi.

Lap Sit is for children ages 6 months through 2 years and their parents/caregivers. There will be stories, songs and fingerplays that encourage a love of words and whimsy which are the first steps toward raising good readers.

Children must be accompanied by a caregiver, and younger and older siblings are also welcome.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins April 14 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. Flounder provides an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. Flounder never interrupts or criticizes!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot: 6:30, 6:45, 7:00 or 7:15. Registration begins April 28 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Main Library at 973 948-3660. Let's make things do stuff! Kids in Kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to stop by the Dorothy Henry Branch every Wednesday through May 20 to work hands-on with a variety of projects. You can work on one project for several weeks or try something new each week.

Registration begins two weeks before each program date. Please register separately for each program you plan to attend.

Join Miss Beverly at our newly expanded story time for children ages 6 months through 6 years old. There will be songs, stories and more. Rediscover old favorites and learn new rhythms and rhymes to entertain your little ones.

All children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Younger and older siblings are also welcome to attend.

LEGO Club meets in four locations each month. All meetings include a theme/book talk followed by LEGO creating with special challenges planned for older kids.

LEGO Club is open to kids in K-8 but space is limited. Register here beginning May 8 for the meeting at the Franklin Branch. Walk-ins will be welcome only if space allows.

Children ages 5-10 are invited to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog. Each child will be allowed a full 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time. The dogs provide an uncritical ear while the children gain self-esteem, confidence, public speaking skills and a love of reading. The dogs never interrupt or criticize!

Each child signs up for a specific time slot:  4:00, 4:15, 4:30 or 4:45. Registration begins May 12 and is in person or over the phone by calling the Louise Childs Branch at 973 770-1000. Register early, slots fill up quickly.


Please arrive on time with a couple of books or early enough to pick out some library books.

The Reading Excites Average Days (R.E.A.D.) Book Club for kids (ages 8-11) meets today in the Community Room at Main Library.

R.E.A.D. began this summer and was so much fun they just can't stop! This month the club will discuss the Poppy series by Avi.
