The Riveting Riddlers are the youngest fans of puzzles at the library and will work on age appropriate puzzles and word games.  From early childhood to adulthood puzzles are great fun.  They challenge our thinking and exercise our minds.  They are also an important educational learning tool for toddlers and young children as they provide skills and learning benefits and FUN!  The Riddlers are part of our 6 Weeks of Summer Fun!

It's summer at the library.  Every Monday afternoon, stop by the library to rest and cool off and Color!  The Coloring Club meets from 12-2PM.  You are invited to join us at the library as we relax and create beautiful pictures.  Bring your own coloring books or use one of ours.  We have pens and pencils.   Start the week off with less stress and join the adult coloring club.  All supplies provided.

Story Hour at the Swansea Mall has started and will continue all summer every Tuesday at 11AM.  Stop by for stories and a sports themed craft.  The library meets in the center of the Mall outside Macy’s and each week.  It’s Ready, Set, Read.  Registration is not required and everyone is invited.  We will also have puzzles and coloring pages.  There is something for everyone.

Genealogy is alive at the Swansea Public Library.  Join the Tuesday Club as we research and discover our family trees.  Use the resources at the library including the family history collection in the Helen Pierce Room, our databases including Ancestry.com and cemetery listings from the Swansea Historical Society.  Each week we share tips and techniques, talk about current topics in genealogy and discuss our brick walls.  Whether you are new to Family History or a die hard Family Detective, there is room at the Reference Table for all levels.  Join us!

Wednesday June 29th, the library will be at Stony Creek Farm as we take sign- ups for our summer Pony Girls Book Club.  Each Wednesday morning starting July 6th through August 17th  from 9-11 we will talk about horse/pony books, create wonderful horse/pony art and crafts, color beautiful horse/pony themed coloring pages and do horse/pony related puzzles.  Do you love horses?  Then you will want to join the Pony Girls.  Books will be available at the library.

Free Fun Fridays begins on Friday July 15th at 10:15AM.  Children are welcome to come and play with our Thomas the Train Table, our play kitchen, dollhouse and toy collection.  While children are playing, adults can join in our KidLit Book club where each week we will discuss new books for children of all ages.  Picture Books, Easy Readers, Chapter Books, Middle School, Junior High and YA books will be highlighted and discussed.  Registration is not required.  So settle in for a comfortable hour in the childrens room!

Children love to investigate and create.  Each child will have a tinker box to play with.  Our mini-maker boxes will have plenty of everyday materials to build, create and explore.  Using materials such as straws, tape, rubberbands, popsicle sticks, playdough, egg crates children will explore and invent using their natural curiosity and abilities.  Seating is limited, so sign up today!

Let's have fun learning our alphabet with blocks and stamps and crayons and pencils!  We will play word games, list to songs, and create a literacy rich environment with markers, pens, paper, envelopes, books, and guided reading activities.  This event is for our early readers ages 4 and under.

Wednesday June 29th, the library will be at Stony Creek Farm as we take sign- ups for our summer Pony Girls Book Club.  Each Wednesday morning starting July 6th through August 17th  from 9-11 we will talk about horse/pony books, create wonderful horse/pony art and crafts, color beautiful horse/pony themed coloring pages and do horse/pony related puzzles.  Do you love horses?  Then you will want to join the Pony Girls.  Books will be available at the library.

Free Fun Fridays begins on Friday July 15th at 10:15AM.  Children are welcome to come and play with our Thomas the Train Table, our play kitchen, dollhouse and toy collection.  While children are playing, adults can join in our KidLit Book club where each week we will discuss new books for children of all ages.  Picture Books, Easy Readers, Chapter Books, Middle School, Junior High and YA books will be highlighted and discussed.  Registration is not required.  So settle in for a comfortable hour in the childrens room!
