Simply Done, the Recipe and Coupon Club of the Swansea Public Library,  will hold a Salsa Making workshop on  Thursday May 25th at 2:30PM in the Reference Room of the Swansea Public Library.  Cost is $5 and will include a traditional salsa and a fruit salsa.  Sign up today as seating is limited.  This is part of the Food on the Go series.  Jar and ingredients are supplied.

On Thursday May 25 at 6:00PM  the Swansea Public Library welcomes author R.M. Clark who will talk about his new middle school book, The Tick Tock Man.  Clark is an author of several middle grade books and one adult mystery.  A computer scientist by vocation and an adult and childrens' book writer by avocation, he is always at work on the next middle grade mystery.

Stop by and talk with this popular author.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Friends of the Swansea Public Library Annual Plant Sale

Save the date.  Saturday May 27, the Friends of the Swansea Public Library will hold their annual Plant Sale on the front lawn of the library from  9-12PM.  The plant sale is a wonderful time for the community to purchase plants, share planting knowledge with others and support the library.     Tickets for our raffle are also on sale at the library. The Swansea Public Library announces the Spring Story Hour programs for children up to age 5.  Sign-ups are being held now through Friday May 26th, 2017 at the library or over the phone.

Preschool Story Hour for ages up to 5 will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am and will run through the week of June 14th.

The six week program welcomes the season of spring with stories, poems and crafts.   Join us as the library celebrates National Flower Month, National Strawberry Month, National Pet Week,  World Turtle Day (May), Great Outdoors Month (June),  Fruit and Veggies Month (June), Father’s Day (June),  Adopt a Cat Month (June),  and Zoo and Aquarium  Month.  It’s all happening at the Library on Main Street.  Sign up today as space is limited.  All children who attend Story Hour must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent, or caregiver.  For more information contact Youth Services Librarian Carol Gafford at 508-674-9609.

The Swansea Public Library has purchased a telescope.  Please plan to attend this family friendly  presentation to learn how to use the new Library Telescope to observe objects from your own backyard using a technique called star hopping and see how easy it is to use!

This telescope was funded by the Ryan Kelly Memorial Fund, and will be maintained by the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. as part of their Library Telescope Program.  Spacey door prizes will be offered for children, along with outside viewing for all, weather permitting.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fish, but didn’t know where to start? Here’s your chance; let the MassWildlife Angler Education Program be your guide. This is a two session (4 to 5 hour) “adult only” fishing course for beginners, designed to give you the confidence to fish on your own. We’ll show you the basic equipment, and how to use it. We’ll teach you how to rig up, and cast out. We’ll teach you what, where, and when to fish. And the best part – we’ll take you fishing. So come try your hand at this great pastime, you’ll be guaranteed to catch some fun! Minimum age is 18. Please note: This program is intended for BEGINNERS only.  This session will be held at the Swansea Public Library.  Sign up today!
