The Swansea Public Library is pleased to announce a new story hour program, It’s Story Time, every Thursday at 10:30AM starting March 20, 2014.

Join Ms. Ashley from South Bay Early Intervention as we share stories, songs and crafts.  This program is designed to introduce early literacy to children through stories, songs, rhymes, movements and toys.

South Bay Early Intervention works to help children grow.  The first three years of a child's life are a time of profound physical, intellectual, language, social and emotional development.  Early Intervention evaluates a child's functioning and identifies a child's strengths and needs to ensure infants, toddlers and families reach their full potential. Early Intervention targets children and families who are experiencing a variety of needs arising from a child's premature birth, feeding, vision, or hearing problems, behavior or attention difficulties, disability, health condition, developmental and environmental issues.

Early Intervention services are family centered to meet the specific developmental needs of each child and their family. Services are available in homes, community settings, and South Bay Early Intervention sites. Depending on a child's needs, Early Intervention may include: developmental evaluations, parent and/or child groups, parent support and education, home visits, speech, physical and occupational therapy.

For more information or to sign up, please contact YA Librarian Carol Gafford at 508-674-9609 or visit www.swansealibrary.org

Join Sue and her band of merry knitters as they share knitting skills and techniques.  Anyone who knits or who wants to learn is welcome.  Winter is here and there are never enough scarves, mittens or winter hats.  Or become one of our knitting angels and make hats for the hospital!  Knitting is the perfect winter hobby.  Slow down and sit with a great group of people.
