Meet Carol Christen, author of What Color Is Your Parachute for Teens

“For three quarters of today's teens, the question, ‘Where do you want to go to college?’ is irrelevant. The question teens must answer is, ‘How am I going to support myself in my twenties with jobs that will help me achieve my long term education and career goals?’ ” This is the messaging behind Carol Christen’s book, What Color Is Your Parachute for Teens, written in collaboration with Richard Bolles, author of the "Parachute" books for adults. Carol will discuss practical strategies to make plans to achieve educational and career goals, not just run up debt. This presentation addresses both the College and Career-Ready and the Future Ready students.

We'll be talking about the wacky and hilarious  " Adventures of Captain Underpants" (book #1) by Dav Pilkey.

When we meet in May, we can make our own "flip book", similar to the one in the book (see bottom edges of pages). We'll try out some silly names!  See the silly inflatable Captain Underpants! We'll find out the funny story behind why the author calls himself "Dav" instead of "Dave"!

The book the kids picked for the next book club will be announced!

We chat about the book, and usually play a game. Snacks provided.  Copies available from the Children's room staff.  The club meets one Tuesday afternoon a month at 3:45. We meet in the larger Program room, just beyond the puzzle and stained glass windows of the Children's Room.

Join the library’s teen book club! We meet once a month for games, informal discussion, and lots of book-related fun. Rather than reading the same book as a group, each month members bring a book they’ve recently read to share.  Compare notes with other readers, learn about the newest teen books, and leave with great book recommendations.

For teens ages 12-17. New members welcome and there will be ice cream!
