Fall Story-time series for the littlest "Book Babies" will start today.  9:15 Book Babies is for the youngest ones -  infants 3 months through toddlers 24 months with their family or care-givers. They'll hear short books,listen to simple songs, start a good foundation for literacy skills and have fun!  Each session is about 20 minutes. Come meet other little ones and adults who live in the area, while improving the child's early learning skills. The Fall Story-time series will continue until Dec. 8.

  The Winter Story-time series will start up mid-to-late January.

    The Fall Story-times series continues! 10:00 am and 11:00 am sessions will be held for Children age 2 & 3 with their family or caregivers. Children can listen to stories, sing songs, make a simple craft, start a good foundation for literacy skills and have fun! No sign-ups. Thayer Public Library presents David Polansky

Mr. Polansky's "music is frequently humorous, sometimes serious, and always clever and engaging. Loved by everyone from preschoolers to grandparents, his songs have been compared to those of Stephen Sondheim and Tom Lehrer and have won numerous awards including the coveted Artists' Foundation Fellowship, Music City Song Festival, Sheet Music Magazine Grand Prize, and others".

     Ahoy Matey!  The Pirate Captain will read about his pirate adventures at sea!
                          
        Come see Captain McNasty's hooked arm and pirate clothing,  Hear him tell of his pirate adventures, before he leaves to hoist the sails on his ship. His book "The Great Pirate Christmas Battle" has been nominated for a 2014 Cybils Award in the "Fiction Picture Books" category, and is published by Pelican Publishing.  Norma will also read Pirate stories and lead a Pirate Craft! It will be more fun than walking the plank.

SING-A-LONG Version!!!

Come see Disney's latest hit movie starring sisters Anna and Elsa!!! You'll enjoy the extra Twist of audience participation!    Set in a frozen kingdom, Anna teams up with Kristoff and a hilarious snowman named Olaf in a race to find Elsa.

During the SING-A-LONG Version of the movie, kids can sing the popular songs along with the movie,  even say their favorite lines out loud or act them out. They can stand under the screen, or stay in their chair. Everyone who wants to may join in!

 Shown on our big screen in Logan Auditorium (top floor). For kids of all ages. PG, 102 minutes.

 We'll be talking about the "I Survived..." series by Lauren Tarshis. Kids can read any one of the "I Survived" titles, and then we'll compare. There's "I survived the sinking of the Titanic, 1912", "I survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005" and 7 others to choose from. Come for Book Club FUN!!!

For February, the kids chose the zany and hilarious  "Miss Child Has Gone Wild" by Gutman. It is part of the popular "My Wierd School" series. It's about what happens when the 3rd grade class takes a field trip to the zoo and meets a wacky zookeeper!

Details: We all read the same book or series, then chat about it. We always do an activity or game related to the book, and often get a bit silly! Snacks provided.  Copies available from the Children's room staff.  The club meets one Tuesday afternoon a month at 3:45. Open to all in gr. 2 and 3 who have read part of the book, or had it read to them.

     The title for this month is one of the  "Percy Jackson " bookos by Rick Riordan The kids will choose which on Nov. 20.

      This is a FUN Book Club for kids in grade 4 and 5!  We chat about the book and always do an activity related to the book. We have snacks and fun, and usually play a game!  You can get a copy of the book from staff or reserve a copy from Old Colony Library Network.If you don't have time to finish it, come to Book Club anyway.  All kids in grades 4 and 5 are welcome. The kids choose the books to read next.  We meet one Thursday evening a month, and talk about a different book each month. Held in Children's Room.
