Anime & Manga Club KIDS/TEENS: Sumi-e Brush Painting
|

During the summer the Thayer Public Library's popular Anime & Manga Clubs combine for two special events. For our August meeting kids and teens ages 9-18 (up to Grade 12) can watch anime, discuss favorite manga series, and learn about the art of Japanese Sumi-e brush painting. There will be a Sumi-e demonstration followed by the chance to make your own piece of beautiful Sumi-e artwork. Registration is not required, but this event is for ages 9-18 (up to Grade 12) only.

Are you a kid the loves acting? Are you available today PLUS Tuesday August 20 from 2:00 till 3:30? Entering grades 2 through 6? If your answer is "yes" to all 3, then come join our informal acting group as we practice and prep for 1 or 2 short plays/skits on the themes of "Dig into Reading"(our Summer Reading Program). We'll practice today and perform on August 20 at the Summer Finale. Held in older kids couch area of Children's Room.

Teen Creative Writing Camp: Part 1 of 4
|

|
Teens writers ages 12-18 (Grades 6-12) can come to the library this summer for a four-part creative writing camp. Learn about different forms of writing including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and work on developing creative writing skills by participating in fun activities. Teens can also meet other writers and share their own work. We will meet from 3:00pm-4:30pm August 12-15. Registration is required and begins July 5, 2013.

For the grade 2 & 3 Book Club, the kids will choose at the July 23 meeting what to read next.
You can get a copy from our Book Club shelf or reserve a copy from Old Colony Library Network. We'll chat about it, and maybe play a game. Snacks provided. All kids going into or finishing grades 2 & 3 are welcome, even if you haven't finished the book! This session, we meet in the couch/older kids area of Children's Room. The club meets one Tuesday afternoon a month at 3:45. We'll continue having Book
Club each month through the school year. Come for Book Fun!!! Part of the "Dig into Reading" summer reading program.

TAG: Teen Summer Service Program

Ever wonder what the library's Teen Advisory Group (TAG) does? Then don't miss this opportunity to get involved with the TAG & have fun at the library this summer.
Our Teen Advisory Group is hosting our first Teen Summer Service Program. This five week program is a leadership and community involvement opportunity for teens going into grades 7-12. Participants will share their ideas, creativity, and skills while working on exciting library projects. We'll work on a new project each week. Registration is required.
The program will be held on the following days and participants should be able to attend most of the meetings:
