Learn how to start honeybee hives of your own! People keep honeybees for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the production of wonderful golden honey. Ned Farrell of The Bee Happy Co., Westbrook CT will show how easy it is to start a honeybee hive, and how fascinating are the inner workings of the hive. A little honeybee knowledge and the proper equipment is all you need. Mr. Farrell is a beekeeper with over twenty years experience, including working with African (“killer”) bees and teaching for the Peace Corps in Paraguay, South America. He now combines the higher-tech beekeeping management style common to big honey producers with easy to use equipment. This combination makes it simple and fun for anyone to learn how to care for bees. This program is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended.
