The House of Faberge is known for designing the beautiful jeweled Russian Imperial Eggs which were created for Russian Tsars, Alexander III and Nicholas II, between 1885 and 1917. Out of the 54 Imperial Eggs that were made during that time, only 42 are known to have survived.  Please join us for a fascinating presentation about the history of the House of Faberge and the Faberge family in the years after the Russian revolution.

This presentation will seek to educate the attendees on the primary issues facing individuals as they get older.  
 
It will begin with a basic discussion of the importance of proper documents in the estate planning area (Wills, Trusts, Durable Medical and Financial Powers of Attorney and Living Wills).
 
Then it will move on to the more complex topic of Long Term Care Planning and how to pay for it. It will include a discussion about Long Term Care Options, Asset Protection Planning; Medicaid & Veteran's Benefits eligibility and how to qualify for these benefits.  Lastly, it will touch upon the new PA ABLE Act that went into effect in the beginning of April.

This is a hands-on class. Students will learn the critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Students who complete this class will receive certification from the American Heart Association.

History Night is a discussion group that meets at the USC and Mt. Lebanon Libraries.  The group meets from January through April, then October through December. It is facilitated by history enthusiasts Glenn Flickinger and Scott Moore. Today's meeting is at the USC Library.  The topic: The End of the War II. The Americans roll into Germany.  How did the war in Europe end and what is the fall out from the defeat of Germany both then and now? All this will be discussed. Registration is requested.

The dogwoods and the native wildflowers are in bloom! This is a perfect time to visit the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens. Join us for a guided tour with master gardener, Martha Swiss. Participants will meet in the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for some moderate walking. There is a picnic area near the parking lot for those who would like to pack lunch.  Call 412-531-1912 to register for the tour. There will be a $10 fee, payable the day the tour.

When they sign up participants will receive a reading log to track the library books that they’ve read.  During each visit to the Summer Reading Desk, kids will earn a bead for each book they read, receive some fun rewards and one ticket for our grand prize drawing on July 28.

~~Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers and Rising Kindergarteners


When you sign up you’ll receive the first of six activity sheets.  For each sheet you’ll read ten library books to your child and share a rhyme.  On the back of the sheet you’ll find a simple activity for you and your child to complete.  When you have completed all of the activities, return to the Library with your child and receive some fun rewards and the next activity sheet.

When you sign up you’ll receive the first of six activity sheets.  For each sheet you’ll read ten library books to your child and share a rhyme.  On the back of the sheet you’ll find a simple activity for you and your child to complete.  When you have completed all of the activities, return to the Library with your child and receive some fun rewards and the next activity sheet.
