Additional parking is available at the McLaughlin Run Road Recreation Center.     Please come in to the Children's Library to register for the following classes: Babies and Toddlers, Twos and Threes, Pre-school Storytime, ABCs and 123s, Brain Teasers, Paws for Reading, Reading Star Readers' Theater, Teen Readers' Theater, Fossil Fun, Library Monopoly, History's Mysteries Scavenger Hunt, and "The Kane Chronicles" Battle of the Books. Registration will also be available for the 2013 Kids Summer Reading Program including Reading Together, Kids Read, and Teen Read. Personnel and forms will be available to help you with your questions. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All Library programs are free of charge.

    (for school-aged children who have completed 1st through 4th grades) We all know that reading is important. The summer reading program is a fun way to encourage your child to spend time reading. Summer reading plays an important role in developing good readers, so make sure your child registers for Kids Read and make sure they read! Participants will receive a reading log to track the library books that they've read. Kids will receive one ticket for each book read to use towards a bi-weekly prize drawing. They'll also get weekly coupons for free stuff from local businesses. Check-ins begin on Monday, June 17 and end on Thursday, August 1. All Library programs are free of charge.

    (for Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Kindergarteners) Reading Together, the library's award-winning early literacy program, is designed to help young children learn important language and pre-reading skills. When you register, you'll receive the first of six weekly activity sheets. Activities include reading library books, sharing rhymes, playing with a library educational kit, and completing age-appropriate learning activities. When you've completed the activity sheet, return to the library where your child can "check-in" at the summer reading desk. Your child will receive a fun reward, encouragement, and the next activity sheet. Registration begins on Wednesday, June 5. Check-ins begin on Monday, June 17 and end on Thursday, August 1. All Library programs are free of charge.

Participants in this program will perform for the United Senior Citizens of Upper St. Clair and will receive volunteer hours for practices and performances. Our performance will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the McLaughlin Run Road Recreation Center. You will be utilizing the library's iPads to create Stop Action Animation videos of our favorite stories. You'll have the chance to write scripts, design sets, and film and produce the videos. These stories will be shared with younger kids in a program at the end of Summer Reading. Other creative activities will be available as well. for each session you attend, you will receive volunteer hours!     (for school-aged children who have completed 1st through 4th grades) We all know that reading is important. The summer reading program is a fun way to encourage your child to spend time reading. Summer reading plays an important role in developing good readers, so make sure your child registers for Kids Read and make sure they read! Participants will receive a reading log to track the library books that they've read. Kids will receive one ticket for each book read to use towards a bi-weekly prize drawing. They'll also get weekly coupons for free stuff from local businesses. Check-ins begin on Monday, June 17 and end on Thursday, August 1. All Library programs are free of charge.

    (for Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Kindergarteners) Reading Together, the library's award-winning early literacy program, is designed to help young children learn important language and pre-reading skills. When you register, you'll receive the first of six weekly activity sheets. Activities include reading library books, sharing rhymes, playing with a library educational kit, and completing age-appropriate learning activities. When you've completed the activity sheet, return to the library where your child can "check-in" at the summer reading desk. Your child will receive a fun reward, encouragement, and the next activity sheet. Registration begins on Wednesday, June 5. Check-ins begin on Monday, June 17 and end on Thursday, August 1. All Library programs are free of charge.

    Clairton native Lee Robinson will perform a concert of jazz standards and ballads. Lee is Pittsburgh's premier jazz saxophone artist, and he always fills the air with tuneful and inspiring jazz music. Traveling with his musical group he has performed in New York City, Toronto, Ontario and Saitama City, Japan.  This program marks the end of the adult summer reading program. Participants and non-participants of the reading program are invited to attend.
