Meditation isn't just relaxation and stress relief. Mystics throughout the ages have turned to meditation to seek insights into the profound questions of life: who are we really, and what is the true purpose of our life? Mystics didn't all live ages ago. Through the power of meditation, even in today's upside down world, you can become a modern mystics. This program will include Jyoti meditation instructions (meditation on the inner Light) and time for meditation..Scandinavian Living Center, 206 Waltham St., West Newton 02465

Mindful Mondays
at UMass Boston
Fall 2009

Mindfulness can increase life enjoyment, improve the ability to
cope with illness, and improve physical and emotional health.
This series of workshops will focus on a variety of practices
which incorporate mindfulness as
a tool for enhancing personal health & wellness.
You may attend any or all of these workshops, and they are open to the entire
UMass Boston community. No prior experience with mindfulness is required.
This series would not be possible without the assistance of both on campus and
community partners. We are grateful to each of our presenters for their
generosity in sharing with us their knowledge, skills, and experience.

Capoeria Conditioning- By using a form of Brazilian Maritial Arts this class combines dance with body weight movements for a total body workout.
There are many definitions of what people would think Capoeira is. Is it a Dance? Martial Art? Acrobatics? Music Class? Language Class, History Class? It is all of these! Capoeira can be classified as an aspect of Afro-Brazilian culture expressed through a dance-like martial art that was created through experimentation, constant modification, and necessity by African and Native slaves in the Colonial era of Brazil dating back to the 1500's.

Jyoti Meditation Groups.
Meditation is stress relief and relaxation. It's enhanced creativity and a greater sense of wellbeing. But it's much more than that. It's the practice of turning your attention inward, of rising above the chatter of the mind and getting in touch with who you really are, your true self. We will practice Jyoti meditation, a technique that focuses on the inner Light. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussions to help you begin your own meditation practice>
