No Dogs Allowed (“Ready, Set, Dogs!” series) by Stephanie Calmenson & Joanna Cole

Kate and Lucie are best friends. Kate is neat and Lucie is messy, but both girls love dogs! Unfortunately, Kate and Lucie live in apartments where dogs are not allowed. Instead of real dogs, they have all sorts of dog items, yet nothing is quite the same as having a real dog. One day, the girls discover sparkly pink dog necklaces at the thrift store and try them on -- there is a pop and a whoosh and the girls are turned into dogs! Kate and Lucie won’t need their own pet dogs, because they’ll be having furry adventures of their own!

Join us for a fun evening of book-related discussion and activities. The library will be closed except for the book discussion participants and their families. Register at the information desk and pick up a copy of the book.

Meet Luis Carlos Montalván and Tuesday

It’s a privilege to have former U.S. Army Captain and New York Times bestselling author Luis Carlos Montalván and Tuesday, his golden retriever service dog, visit the library.  What better way to honor Veterans Day than to hear Montalván’s personal story. Everyone is welcome.

Luis Carlos Montalván, a 17-year Army veteran, uses his recovery from post-traumatic stress disorder to help other veterans do the same. He will discuss his new book, Until Tuesday, and tell the story of how Tuesday helped him get control over his life. The book brings to light the mental health issues that many veterans find so difficult to talk about.

Until Tuesday and Tuesday Tucks Me In will be on sale for signing at the program.

The Middle School Book Club is a program sponsored by the Voorheesville Public Library and held after school in the C.A. Bouton High School Library each month alternating talking about the books we are reading on our own with a group read that is provided to those who attend the meetings.  Book related snacks will be served.  December's meeting will be a free read -- tell us about what you've been reading, and hear what's brand new at the library.  You'll also get to pick up the January title, so register at the school library.  For additional information, please visit the Voorheesville Public Library Teen Website at <http://www.voorheesvillelibrary.org/teen.asp.
