With a combination of traditional preschool storytime and lots of movement and participation games, your active toddler will learn through play as he/she starts the transition to becoming a "big kid." This program is appropriate for children ages 2-3 who have aged out of Babygarten, but are looking for a slightly more structured program that allows for their short attention spans and need for activity. Storytime will be followed by playtime. 

If Voorheesville Schools are closed or delayed by two hours, our morning children’s programs will be cancelled.

The woodland animals are very active during the spring! Barbara Lukas from WMHT will offer a fun and educational program about three special woodland animals. Enjoy stories of local woodland animals and get creative by making puppets of all three of the featured woodland animals: raccoon, muskrat, and deer.  Each child will receive a copy of Morning, Noon, and Night by Jean Craighead George. For children ages 2 - grade 2 with families. Please register.

The Intrepid Canadian (“Flat Stanley’s Worldwide Adventures” series) by Jeff Brown

Stanley Lambchop and his family are in British Columbia, Canada, for some skiing and winter fun. When Stanley and his new friend Nick go snowboarding, with Stanley as the snowboard, they take a midair tumble just as the wind picks up and find themselves floating in an amazing Canadian cross-country journey that might just be Stanley's wildest adventure yet! Join us for a fun evening of book-related discussion and activities. The library will be closed except for the book discussion participants and their families. Grades 2-3, please register at the information desk and pick up a copy of the book.

Following a short storytime, parents and children will explore and play at different stations using hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, building not only their reading skills, but also their STEAM skills, too! (problem solving, understanding, reasoning, etc.)

Stations include: Ocean sensory table, home-made underwater scopes, DIY coral reefs, seashell patterns, camouflage the octopus, ocean slime, and sink or float experimentation.
